Bolton Wanderers 0-1 TOWN

I suppose we'll start with the usual look at recent 'stats'.
Last 6 played, & And the Woefull 's held Bolton to a 1-1 draw at the Reebok.
another home draw against the Tractor boys....
Then Freedman saves his skin

Coz he was in bother, lets be right abart this .
3 good wins followed, The last of those, a 1-0 win away at Watford.
although Bournemouth away, & Millwall at home I assume you would have expected to win those games.

Then back to earth with a bump !
OK it was away from home, & it took a late penalty for the home side to 'grab' the 3 points,
But be honest, Boro are Shiite
I assume the penalty was their only shot on target the whole game.
& the trotters faired no better !!!
like wise, Only 1 shot on target, with Boro shading possession into the bargain.
Poor.

Beckford. Don't go expecting much from this bloke tonight ...He's bone idle. Only performs when it suits him, Team man Pah ! Town will have him sorted & snuffed out no bother.
Lynch, Gerrard & Smith now seem to form the previously elusive defensive line that we have been concerned about for far too long.
Ironically this has come about since 'Captain Courageous' (Clarke) has been absent through injury.
So all you Trotters fans..don't be going to this game thinking Town are at a disadvantage..
They're Not.

Two very good wins see Town on a 50/50 ratio over the last 6 played.
The last being the superb win against the division high flyers Burnley at the weekend.
A 1st half demolition job Dyche's mob. Town by far the better team.
took a 2-0 lead...The same as the week before away at Wednesday, then for reasons only known to 'management'...we relinquish acreage to the opposition ?
This is where Town fans become divided.
Those who acknowledge the tactic of hold onto the 'win' by a block defense.
The rest of us who get frustrated..(because we are shiite at defending) because if we carry on attacking, we know we could be giving some teams a right good hiding.
This latter attitude would seem to be endorsed by the Terriers fans urging the team 'forward' & to 'come out' (of defense) towards the end of the game.

I would say if the Town players ignore instructions from 'the bench' & play their way..(once we have taken the lead ) the way they no doubt want to play, Bolton could be on the end of a heavy defeat.

We should have been out of sight against Wednesday & Burnley...but ended up having a nervy finish at 2-1 in both games.

Confidence has to be high within the team.
As mentioned by 'MB' on the Burnley thread, Smithies made a blinding save, & he does indeed thrive on confidence. What a save too. No way did it just 'hit him', he saved it.
Hammill's scorcher from the corner .. Lets have more of that. Something different instead of lumping it into a crowded box !
Vaughan back to scoring, ok, a penalty, But that pushes him upto 12
That's twice as many your top scorer...Beckford on 6.

A hard night for the Trotters.
I'm going for a rousing 3-0 to the Terriers..& maybe a healthy following too after two impressive performances by TOWN

How will Freedman tackle this game ?
You tell us !
3 good wins then the poor defeat at Boro. Will he be sending your boys out for the win, or a steady 'FA Coaching manual' type cautious approach ?

Robins would have to be confident of 3 points here, despite any politically 'football correct' speak he might spout about 'a tough game' or "Bolton are a good side' .... they ALL do it.
One on a winning streak, the other wanting to get back to winning asap.

Say what you think Wummers, grumblers, K-OK heads all welcome.
NO ONE is going to get deleted on my account..even you 'Cal'..we know you'll be reading it ....But all the same ! Wethers, Champers & Waltz... Go easy on the 'sensitives'

& to finish off.. Hydy's FAVOURITE catch phrase..
"Set 'em alight the Blue & White"

On SSN last night it showed him taking his seat at the Reebok. Even i could score 25 a season in that league and I'm 39 tomorrow!
