Graeme Swann retires

from all forms of cricket with immediate effect, meaning he will be unavailable for the remaining two Ashes tests.

As an England fan I think it's a real shame. Top quality spinner and seems like a genuinely decent bloke. Have had some great times watching Swanny play. True his form has not been fantastic this series and this year but at the age of 34, and with no real young prospect challenging for his place in the team, it seems like he could have gone on for a couple more years.

Still, he has made his decision and I just want to say thank you Swanny and good luck with the rest of your life.

Illegal my ass. He just didn't have the skill to bowl a doosra

Don't see why people are accusing him of selfishness and cowardice. He was more than likely going to retire after this series anyway so now that it's lost he might as well step aside for someone else.
Regardless of your opinion though its such a shame to see one of our best ever bowlers be slated like this given everything he's done for England.

How anyone can give Swanny pelters after everything he's achieved with England is beyond me

England's best ever off spinner & 3-time Ashes winner deserves a bit of respect, regardless of how, when or why he chooses to retire.

Thanks for the memories Swanny

I wonder who the other players Swann was saying were up their own backsides? we know one of them is Pieterson.. Could be Broad he does like to be a bit bossy. Not sure

Duncan Fletcher....... idiot, Swann could be retiring now with 120 tests and 500 wickets.

Just like when the English couldnt bowl reverse swing it was "illegal" but now they can't find any bowlers who can bowl the doosra it's also illegal, hmmmm I see a pattern here

Yeah its anti Pakistan .. Lets be fair here Ajmal chucks. he may have been aquited and allowed to bowl. But that's because the icc don't wish to offend. New bowlers like Shillingford get banned because hes new.. Ajmal's action from side on is ridiculous.
There is no way on earth can a bowler bowl the doosra without bending their arm. The 15 degree nonsense.. a bowler can bowl 20 doosras at 14 degrees and bowl a doosra at 25 degrees.. what do the icc do? ban them from bowling a delivery completely over 1 ball?

That sums it up. Nobody i saying his arm is not bent. But it doesent breach teh current laws of the game, so thus its a legal delivery.

Wasent this angle allowed after the ICC checked Murali??
