Liverpool host Hull City on New Year's Day in the Barclays Premier League for their first match of 2014.
Following a very frustrating Christmas period which saw them narrowly lose both away to Manchester City and Chelsea in hugely controversial circumstances, the Reds will now be looking to start picking up points again to get them back up towards the top of the table. They will also be looking to make amends for the shock defeat in the reverse fixture a month ago.
Hull had a good festive period as they gave Manchester United a good game which they eventually lost, but recovered by hammering and putting six goals past Fulham without reply, a result which lifted them into the top half of the table.
Liverpool have doubts over Steven Gerrard (hamstring) and Mamadou Sakho (hamstring), while Joe Allen (groin), Sebastian Coates (knee), Jose Enrique (knee), Jon Flanagan (hamstring) and Daniel Sturridge (ankle) miss out.
Hull are without Sone Aluko (Achilles), Robbie Brady (groin), Joe Dudgeon (knee) and Stephen Quinn (hamstring).

Cheers everyone Stoke away in the league next. That is the game that I least look forward to every season, because there is no chance that any football will be played. Just a 90-minute battle.

Stoke away will be tough but at least we have a week to prepare, not like Boxing Day last season.
Also Gerrard and maybe Sturridge will be available.
Not saying we will win, but it's not a guaranteed drop points either. Assaidi can't play and he is the only player scoring for them
Clean sheet today We do only seem to get them when Agger plays centre half. Coincidence or not? Not sure.

We defended much better at set pieces today. We seemed to attack the ball rather than the man..... Hopefully, BR has finally addressed the issue.

Stoke do play more football now, no doubt.
They still have an edge to them though.
They haven't lost in three games against top half teams.
