True, but he seemed to get caught out of position and then not to be able to get back. Then spent another 5-10 minutes getting his breath back.

Birtles had a good start to his career.
If I remember correctly...His first 3 games were
Arsenal, Liverpool and Man Utd

First shirt I had was with Garner on the back, was my favourite player, remember when I had it signed I think I got slightly star struck (which is a bit embarrassing seeing as it was Joe Garner)
Gutted he only had one good season

Worst debut I saw was McGoldrick I think, and the worst last game I saw for a player was Perch!

The last shirt I had with a name on is Garner as it happens. I gave up doing that after that and the Tyson one. Got that on the opening game of the season which he then did his knee in for the first time. Have called it curse of the shirt since.
Previously my first was the awful blocky yellow kit with Stone and the yellow with green trim with Lester

I got all nostalgic when he came back during the Wally season and thought he was going to come back and rip up the league again!
2 days later, he was sold to Watford!
That season was awful for a number of reasons

I got it a season or so before I think. But curse of the shirt SBD, first two were ok then it was my fault Tyson did his knee.
We got free printing on England shirts a while back. Mrs got Owen just before he got badly injured (again)

I have heard of this before, this has to be up there. Souness was coned into buying Ali Dia after discussion with someone he was led to believe was George Weah (but wasn't). Was at the level of a pub player and for some reason actually got bought on a sub. You would have thought Souness picked up in it through training. He came on for Le Tis FGS
