Brewers Match Predictor League Table (25)

In the predictor league 3 of us managed to correctly predict 2-1. Predicting that we will score 2 goals in a game was very brave but it paid off for;

- Tommatt (5th correct prediction of the season)
- Foxy Freddy (3rd correct predition of the season)
- Old Brookender (1st correct prediction of the season).

Well done chaps.

A special mention to Old Brookender for getting off the mark there.

This now leaves 3 in the club that no-one wants to be in - the no correct predictions this season club. I am still propping up the bar in that club.

The league table looks like this;

1) Marco - 61
2) Tommatt - 58
3) BA442 - 56
4) Earwig - 54
5) BAFC 123 - 54
6) Robbo62 - 53
7) Old Brookender - 52
8) Foxy Freddy - 51
9) Brewers County - 51
10) Boston Brewer - 49
11) Emnez - 49
12) JFWqwerty6 - 49
13) Captain Utd - 48
14) Steve1210 - 47
15) Otep - 42
16) Stuart44 - 42
17) Frank Ashton - 39
18) Don Touched My Boots - 28

On the pitch it was quite entertaining for 25 minutes of the match. Hearing the teams being read out I wondered how a league 1 standard winger could be on the bench.....with a Northern Premier League standard player starting in his position before him. But what do I know?

The first half was poor. McGurk should have scored, they missed a sitter and their keeper made a few decent saves (though he'd have been disappointed not to have saved them).

Save of the match / season was Deano though. What an incredible save. Lightning reflexes. Those sort of saves win games.

Whilst we had that shot that cruelly hit both posts the second half was crying out for some changes. And when they arrived they made the difference. Ismail tormented their defence for 25 minutes, ripping them to shreds on the right flank. Time after time he beat his man and sent in numerous dangerous crosses.

And who should be there to bury 2 of those crosses? Well done Dominic Knowles - a player I rate a lot. I was really pleased for him.

Really delighted with that 3 points. Cheltenham are a good side and they know how to play intelligent, passing football.

Does anyone else think McGurk has been absolutely awful for 10 games now? I might be reading this incorrectly but there seems to be an air of selfishness about his play. Holding on to the ball a fraction longer than he should, fancy footwork that doesn't produce anything and wayward shooting when a pass would be better. Maybe I should commend him for shooting and having a go. At the moment though it isn't working for him and I find it painful to watch him trying to make something happen (for himself).

A decent winger who can beat players and deliver telling crosses and a striker who can find the net. Before today we would all have suggested that if we had such players we would find the net more often. In 25 minutes today that point was proved.

Thank you Otep.It took a long time to get a correct prediction this season.
As regards the game I thought Dominic and Zeli coming on made all the difference and was sorry Dominic did not get his third goal for a hat trick.

Did anyone else see Calvin Zola at the game ? he was spotted aparently and the word on the street was that a deal might be getting aranged to bring him back on loan until the end of the season . As for the game, had we not have not made the changes ,im pretty sure we would have lost . Macdonald fustrates me immensly , he time and time again does something that infuriates the crowd it got embarrasing in the end . As for the game we had stars out there who deserve promotion , we all know who they are ,with a bit more tweaking we will walk this league . Priorities for me would be a mobile ,target man with a proven goalscoring record .

Funny you say that about Stuart but someone near to me said soon in to the second half 'Yes, definitely time for Calvin to return'. I thought to myself 'Zero chance of that happening'. Maybe there was something in it.

Do we know how he is getting on at Aberdeen other than the statistics - 17 games, 3 goals? Is he happy there? Aberdeen are second in the table and he is not first choice I see.
