Fine lines

I watched the game last night and am slightly bemused by the reaction in the media. In particular Savage on the BBC website explains how Chelsea were clever in stopping United playing, I didn't think that was the case as all.

I personally thought Manchester United were the better side in the first half, and it could quite easily have been 2-0 the other way. The scoreline at half time had more to do with the players than the tactics of the managers.

Manchester United were able to keep a fair degree of pressure on the home side for long periods. Chelsea players made mistakes and gave the ball away but United weren't able to punish them.
Then Jones was done by Eto'o far too easily, and then Valencia basically pushes the striker into the ball - these are not tactical things that Moyes has done wrong, it is the players themselves not being up to the standard expected.

Bluedroog - I completely agree.

It is strange though that the criticism is of the manager when tactically he did about as well as he could and the players didn't perform.

In real time you thought it was a bad miss no doubt

The ball was caught under his feet and for me it wasn;t a clear goal scoring chance because of it

Penalty but not a red card

It's funny the wording of it - the challenge didn't prevent a clear goal scoring opportunity, since he still had the shot... the challenge just hindered that opportunity!

Very few penalties are given if the player does get a sho away... I remember Stevie G getting one for Liverpool once, not too many others come to mind though.

TCP

Are you ever gonna grow up and have a few debates on here or is it only ever gonna be one line wums?

I seriously have no clue about what your thoughts actually are most of the time

No need

Chelsea would’ve been denied a clear cut penalty had Eto’o not scored anyway, for his third Valencia had him in a complete bear hug, both arms pinned by his side.

I'd say it cancels out all the no penalties all teams don't get at Old Trafford

Anyway, i think you have bigger issues ahead than a game you were never going to win

Agreed

Those pens are rarely given though. Stuff like that goes on in the box for every set piece
