Who were those clowns officiating last night? I am usually quite level headed when I watch matches unlike many around me who are very partisan. If we commit a foul - it is a foul. If something is 6 of one half a dozen of the other - that is what it is. However, I thought the referee last night gave us absolutely nothing and the linesman on our side was both short sighted and not keen on making decisions.
Anyway, a point wasn't bad. We could and should have won as Rochdale looked limited and didn't carry too much threat. I was listening to their fans on the way out saying how they always seem jaded and lacking in ideas for midweek games.
We played some lovely passing, flowing football last night. We got it out to the wings and attacked with purpose. Zeli and Jimmy were excellent though their final ball was sometimes a bit lacking. Playing 4-5-1 seemed to be the right tactic as we swamped the midfield and got a good grip on the game.
Poor Rob Lainton. Punching the ball in to your own net is bad enough but doing it in front of jeering Rochdale fans when you are on loan from Bury just down the road added insult to his injury. They enjoyed his misery. However, to be fair, he didn't lose his nerve and produced a world class save from a bullet of a header about 15 minutes later. Remember that save against Dagenham aswell? Awesome goalkeeping.
That was the only time Rochdale looked menacing really - in the period after they got that goal.
In the Predictor League there was quite a bit to report;
- Don Touched My Boots secured a 4th correct prediction of the season, the second in succession and moved off the foot of the table. Not a bad nights work.
- Earwig bagged 7 points for predicting the 1-1 scoreline and getting the name of the first Brewers goalscorer. Perfect punditry there.
- Boston Brewer got his 5th correct prediction of the season.
- Old Brookender got the correct result and the correct goalscorer which was a nice 5 point haul.
The table now looks like this;
1) Marco 73
2) Tommatt 68
3) Old Brookender 68
4) Earwig 66
5) BA442 64
6) Robbo62 62
7) JFWqwerty6 61
8) Boston Brewer 59
9) Foxy Freddy 59
10) Emnez 59
11) BrewersCounty 59
12) Steve1210 56
13) BAFC 123 56
14) Captain Utd 55
15) Otep 52
16) Stuart44 52
17) Don Touched My Boots 46
18) Frank Ashton 44

I agree with just about everything regarding the game and the poor officials.
Having seen what Zeli can do, it would seem a new tactic from teams to rough up Zeli as they can not contain him. Hack him down or give him verbal abuse seems to work when the officials give a player no protection.
I see that a few scouts and Kenny jacket where there last night to have a look at Zeli in action.
A point gained if we can top it up with a few wins.

I'm off the bottom.
For now, at least.
