Does any player deserve a statue?

So Arsenal have just unveiled a statue of Dennis Bergkamp outside the Emirates. (not sure he's the best choice but that's another debate) This has created a bit of a discussion on the BBC sportsday live feed.

The question I ask is does any player deserve a statue outside their ground? After all, all they're doing is their job. As one person said surely the fan who doesn't miss a game for 30 years is more deserving of a statue as that's down to passion and support, rather than just turning up to work.

In my thoughts if a player does get a statue then it should be for players who have given their career to their clubs, like Gerrard, Giggs, Scholes, Le Tissier etc, who can be rightfully described as legends rather than ones who came in, had a few sensational seasons and then left.

I'm undecided... thoughts?

I don't think any player who has played for multiple clubs should have a statue until they're playing career is over and they are fairly old.
Players like Giggs, Gerrard, Totti who will undoubtedly retire at their clubs and won't do anything for anyone else on a managerial level who be liable to have one a few years after retirement

still think Harry Gregg is the only deserving footballer ever, to get a statue who hasn't...and that has nothing to do with football
