season over

i went to the game tonight, that makes it 4 loses out of 4 games that i've picked to go to

a few thoughts on tonight's performance

i quite like Kane so didn't begrudge him a start. however he hardly had a sniff because our plan to boot it long to Ade paid no dividends. I doubt Soldado would have made much of a difference since there was no build up play from us whatsoever and he would have ended up just as isolated as Kane was

lennon is fast becoming a waste of space, completely anonymous with no bottle. should be a key player for us given his senior status and ability but just does not produce when it matters, hasn't done for a few seasons now. I also think his work rate tonight was sheeeet

Walker was appalling. Massively overrated player. He's a great athlete but has very little going on upstairs. tonight he had a shocker where almost everything he tried was wrong. maybe in his head he was still playing against Chelsea as a no10 , because i don't think he once done what he is best at, getting down the line and creating chances

i could go on but i can't be facked... those things stood out to me the most from tonight's farcical attempt at winning a football match. I could mention Naughton but he is so poor we don't expect anything when we see him rock up at LB. Tim has already 'lost the dressing room' from what i was watching. We were a lot worse than we were against Chelsea imo. After a public rant like the one Tim had after that game, you would have hoped serious work would have gone on on the training pitch but obviously not. There was no plan, if there was somebody please explain to me what it was.

This stupidity that makes people think any ex player can manage is just that stupidity

------------

Stupidity = Stupidity

Sound reasoning.

Show me a single person that thinks any player can make a manager.

This and your 'Sherwood was a crap player' rant.....really? Are you that fickle/thick?

FYI You're picking a fight with the wrong dude

Let's be honest most former players coming back to coach their teams hardly ever work out. So it shouldn't be a significant factor when thinking of who to hire.

Unfortunately for many fans it is (out of sentiment) and that is the point being made here

Fans see a former player as manager and assume they know the game and how to set up a team.

Although for weeks its been bleeding obvious to anyone who has watched us that our 'build up' play has been crap. 400 passes in your own half make it extremely easy to defend against and constantly passing backwards means when you make mistakes (Rose vs Arsenal, Jan vs Chelsea, Kane vs Benfica) they are fatal ones. Benfica played 3 passes forward for the first goal. From the edge of their box to our net in 3 passes. Sherwood has been unable to get us moving the ball forwards let alone quickly.

Also your general fan would accept that you play players in the right position. Not Naughton at left back and Eriksen on the wing. There's no plan, no consistency in the team selection which in turn gives the team no rhythm.

Sherwood keeps making surprise decisions like playing Walker on the wing or throwing Kane into Benfica. Its as though he hopes one will come off and he'll look like a genius. Instead players don't seem to have a clue where they are playing. I slated AVB when Lamela played well in the Europa game and got dropped for Newcastle (to then be thrown in against City) and now Sherwood drops Soldado in favour of Kane when Soldado gets a goal. Its madness.

I can't agree with you excusing Kane but caning Lennon.. he chased up and down that right and won several challenges in that first half that he no right winning. If we want passion and commitment he was one of the few showing it last night.

not making excuses for Kane mate. just don't think the same level of expectation should be attached to a player fresh out of the youth squad to a senior key player like Lennon

i saw Lennon's input in last nights game differently to you. I don't care how many people he tracked back, that is part of playing football, defending when not in possession. His job, especially at home in a key game, is to trouble the opposition in the attacking sense. He didn't do it once. He was completely useless, and his effort on several occasions was a disgrace, where he didn't support our attack, or decided to stay offside when we were looking to build an attack.

The bloke is facking average and with players like him making our first XI on a regular basis we won't be going anywhere fast

Firstly I did not mean it made you fickle I think it makes you thick.

Sherwood a good servant

Ponderous on the ball, constantly caught in possesion in dangerous areas of the pitch. Ineffective defensively and played like he was doing us a favour who thought he was a lot bettr than he was.

I would go further but your comments have already assured me that your football knowledge and "decent" observations could be written in block capitals on the back of a postage stamp
