I keep seeing this word. Have a little patience...
- One win and we'll be up and running.
- When the players gel we'll be up and running.
- Once Lee Clark knows his best team we'll be up and running.
How long are we expected to be patient for?
Lee Clark is a good man, he's hard working and there's no doubting his passion for the club. He was as down as anyone when we lost at Old Trafford and it's obvious just from watching him on the sidelines that he puts his all into what he does for this club. But is that enough?
If Town gave me a contract and played me up front I'd try my hardest and I wouldn't be without passion, but I'd still be pants! Lee Clark has signed midfielders because we were over-run in midfield last season, but we are still being over-run in midfield, not only when we play 4-4-2 but when we play 4-5-1 as well. We switched it up to 4-4-2 to have a go at them last night and soon reverted back to 4-5-1 purely because we were being outfought and outwitted in the middle of the park.
Add to that the fact that the players seem completely void with confidence and it's a pretty depressing time to be a Town player it would seem. We have flair players such as Ward, Roberts and McDermott who are all scared to run at defenders or try a trick, or even take a shot. The defenders hoof the ball straight past the midfield more often than not, and our strikers are constantly isolated while the rest of the team sit back to make sure we don't get caught on the break. Negative football is what we're playing, ensuring we don't lose rather than attempting to win.
Add to that the at times dodgy defence and lack of a top striker up front who can score goals and offer other options, we have the exact same problems we had last season, which seem to have not been addressed in the summer by the manager. We're 3 games into the season, but when is it acceptable among the masses to begin losing patience?
Patience...

I agree the system isn't the problem 38, it's the rigidness that the team are playing with that's the problem, no creativity, fluidity or attacking intent whatsoever, I just suggested my team on DATM:
Bennett
Hunt Clarke McCombe Naysmith
Ward Robinson Arfield McDermott
Novak Lee
Get at them from the off, let Robinson worry about protecting the back 4, keep Ward and McDermott bombing WIDE down the wings, Arfield pushing up behind the front 2 and just keep getting the ball in the box. Keep them penned in, pressure them high up the field, force them into errors and keep the ball in their box for long periods. Play with tempo and look to be 3 or 4 up by half time, play like we actually think we're better than them and try to win the match.

I'd go for Gobern, Johnson, Robinson, and McDermott with Arfield and Miller as subs..these 6 would be on my teamsheet every week.
Up front I'd play any 2 of Novak, Rhodes, Ward, Roberts, Lee
I'd have Naysmith and Hunt as attacking full backs.
This way we would have a solid midfield, 2 strikers and at least pace down one flank with Hunt. We can't just rely on corners and by-line crosses for every goal...we need to create the openings through the channels..that way you can switch play to either side leaving defenders in doubt, if it's on the wing all the time there is only one way you can go (unless you go backwards that is)..
get he midfield sorted (are we STILL talking about this) and the defence and forwards will sort themselves out...
Can I be manager now ?
Can start tomorrow....

Enough is enough if we do not set out to actually a win the match on saturday, even if we do do scrape a 1-0 win, i would rather lose 3-2 and have tried to win the match and be unlucky. Look at the Lee Clarks first full season in charge, we actually played to win a match by scoring goals, think of all the chances Theo missed, but thats because we created numerous chances, all we needed was a few tweaks to the side. Enough of the negative tactics it is so boring to watch town on this run.
And for all the 28 game unbeaten run Bull**** We lost the 1 game that actually mattered so null and void in my eyes.

and during our 28 match run, we have not won a saturday home 3pm kick off, so do you wonder why town fans are getting restless, Somebody correct me if I am wrong but I believe out last HOME 3PM SATURDAY KICK OFF WAS ON DECEMBER 11 v Brighton
