Last week I found out My mum had lymphoma after going for an ultrasound And two biopsys.(no idea why they took two)
The doctor was able to identify lymphoma from the ultrasound on the lump on her neck.
The news totally rocked the family as our mother is a complete rock to us (I'm a mummies boy) and she has not long become a gran to my child and my half sisters child.
Although she was ultra positive and on the face of it strong she crumbled when talking about the babies. We were all anxious to hear wether it was hogkins lymphoma or not. Our understanding of the horrible disease is next to nothing but apparently one is curable and one isn't.
In a horribly selfish way I was petrified as this could have orphaned me and I'm certainly not independent enough to go without my mums advice.
Yesterday she returned to another doctor who had managed to get the results of the biopsys back early (apparently they normally take ten days) and he told her the ultrasound had mimicked lymphoma And although there is something wrong With her...some auto immune condition they haven't yet diagnosed... it is not lymphoma and he regrets the fact the other doctor was so certain in his diagnosis.
We are all over the moon, although there's something still not right surely the law of averages says it can't be that bad??
My mum says she feels like she's been given her life back. Another cliché she quipped was the you never think it'll happen to you bit.
She's decided to go and raise money and awareness now as although she wasn't a victim, she understands how difficult hearing the news is and the affects to the family. Nae fookin selfie yet mind, not her style
Thankfully the family all prayed and did their bit and the nurses she seen were magnificent.
I would've posted something about it on hear last week but stopped short as it may have been seen as attention seeking (when I really.wanted more knowledge of the disease) and also because of previous events on this forum it seemed a crap idea... I mean imagine she had to go to Jersey for treatment
We are all over the moon, I know a lot of you are very pro active and charitable people, any suggestions on what to do?
Can't explain the relief at the lucky, lucky, lucky great news and we'd all like to help the families that weren't as fortunate as us in some way...
Cheers folks, hope your day is as fruitful as ours was yesterday.

lauders, I did try posting this, this morning but too upset to do so. This is now my third attempt
I just wanted to say how happy I am for you and your family. You really should view it as a second chance. I unfortunately lost my Dad 7 weeks ago and this is the first time I've managed to come on here since. My Dad was only 64 and looking forward to retiring. It really does give you a different perspective on life.
Take care of your Mum.

lauders, certainly not mate. I am really pleased for your family. Your post has got me back on here so that's a good thing I have missed this place, although looks like a few name changes since then

So great for your mother and family. Although the scare was unnecessary. Sadly so many families and mothers aren't so lucky. Mine wasn't. It makes me happy to know yours was though. Charity work is great for a cause you understand and care about
