#RealityCheck - LFC’s Title Hopes

Given recent developments, many unlearned followers of the game have speculated that Lil’ Liverpool could win the EPL Championship. While an unfashionable team like LFC winning the league at the expense of more glamorous clubs - like Chelsea and Arsenal - would be a nice fairy tale, the reality is much different.

Brendan’s Boys do deserve some credit for their recent results but upon closer inspection, it’s clear that the Mersey Reds have been riding their luck.

A late penalty gained two points vs Fulham, another dubious penalty salvaged a draw at home to struggling Villa and their win away at Stoke was the flukiest win any team have recorded this season. Against Southampton, a lucky ricochet led to the opener, Saints then dominated and were merely hit on the break.

Even at MUFC, Liverpool were extremely fortunate. A gift of a penalty from the hand of Rafael was followed by another gifted penalty, this time from the official, just after HT. The foul on Allen was too soft to merit a spot-kick. It was only after United were unjustly reduced to 10 that LFC posed any genuine scoring threat. In fact, if it wasn’t for poor officiating and bad luck, MUFC would have likely secured at least a draw.

On the plus side for LFC, Suarez’s fortunate strike, against a depleted MUFC backline, takes his tally to a slightly-less-embarrassing 6 goals in 27 games against the Big Four.

Bottom line is, Liverpool’s luck is bound to run out soon, maybe even against Cardiff this weekend. Ole’s men have already taken points from more talented teams than LFC this season, such as City & MUFC, so if you’re looking for some easy money, place a small bet on the home team.

How many LFC players would make the starting XIs of AFC, CFC or City?

-----------------------

Suarez and Sturridge. The rest are average.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Think arsenal could do with Gerrard.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Flamini, Arteta, Ramsey, Wilshere, Rosicky, Ozil, Cazorla, Ox, Diaby, Kallstrom, Gnabry....

yep, we could do with another midfielder

He wouldn't make the cut. He's not mobile or disciplined enough to play DM and he's nowhere near as good as Ramsey.

Sturridge wouldn't make the City team (Aguero & Negredo). He probably wouldn't replace Giroud either - he doesn't hold up the ball well & wouldn't be able to link-up with AFC's midfielders in the stylish manner that Giroud does.

Giroud would replace Sturridge in the Liverpool team, no doubt about that...
