games to go !
OK, of the fixtures remaining, obviously at the reverse venue,
TOWNS results were as follows.
Won 2 (Bolton 1-0 & Yeovil 5-1)
Draw 2 (Derby 1-1 & Brighton 0-0)
Lost 3 (Ipswich 2-1, Leicester 2-1 & Watford 2-1)
8 points from 7 games.
If that equation repeats..TOWN will end up with 54 points.
2 wins in 7 games will be an improvement over the last 7 fixtures.
Can they do it ?
SAFE AS HOUSES
However, Not overly sure of a draw at Derby, so maybe a point dropped there !
Maybe improvements against Brighton - at our place this time !
or Watford, can TOWN hold them and gain a point ?
Magnificent 7,,,,,

3 wins
v Bolton, Yeovil & Brighton.
3 defeats
v Derby, Leicester & Ipswich.
1 draw
v Watford.
Like Wakey says, No chance of relegation now.
So come on Robins...2 up front every game, lets go for wins,no thing to lose now.

What's the obsession with 2 up front Darn?
We didn't have 2 up front against Reading at the weekend and we played some good football and were unlucky not to win.

'Obsession' ? Hardly
This months results - as you no doubt witnessed 1st hand
1 win in seven games...the not so 'magnificent 7;
TOWN struggled .
played the lone striker tactic, And the results reflected this.
Even you reflected after the Charlton game that you were bored, & didn't know why you bothered.
Satisfied. you most certainly was not.
Mirf has been honest and described some game in this period as tripe.
Upper tire gran reckons we have been woefull at times.
All in all the football has been BAD.
March provided 7 games, a potential 21 points, TOWN secured 5
A lone striker is always going to struggle against a 3 or 4 man back line.
aside from being a negative tactic when playing the likes of clubs who are in poor form themselves, & finding it hard to score goals .. Charlton, Donny, Blackpool & Boro for example.
If you're happy with it Fine.
keep showing up & paying for the privilege.
But it's not a win games formula, how could it be.
Leicester & Burnley always have at least a two pronged attack ethic...
Goals win games.
When TOWN push forward they look good.
They don't do it often enough.
5 across the middle ???????????
What's that all about. They get in each others way,
or put in minimum effort in some cases.
Wells thrives on the through ball, If he had support, with others running off him, as an accepted tactic, many of those draws would quite easily turned into wins.
And you know it.
So. 7 games left. We are 'safe'
What a perfect time for Robins to be adventurous & change the mind set of 'stop them scoring at all costs' to..
'Lets see how many goals we can score by all out attack'
The crowd seem to appreciate a side who look like they want to win games too, rather than going through pre meditated set 'plans' of
Holding.
keeping possession
men behind the ball
I bet we didn't play 1 man up front against Barnsley !
Oh..
our only win last Month.
Obsession ? nah.
I want better.

It's players putting effort that win games not formations though.
At home to Boro we played 1 up top and we were the better side but it wasn't the 1 up top that made the mistakes that cost us 2 goals.
At Reading at the weekend we played 1 up top and played really well, plenty of shots and unlucky not to win
At Blackpool we played 2 up top and it was like watching Paint dry....hoofball..we lost because the effort and desire wasn't there.
Yes some games haven't been good but I'm happy with Robins to stick with a game he believes in any day than the hoofball we see from time to time

Your 1st line Wakey.
I'll go along with that, & you know I've endorsed such views many times in the past.
I'd like to add, sometimes 'hoofball' as you call it, is a 1st class tactic negating a packed, more skillful midfield opposition set up by an opponent. (but is a woefull waste of time playing it forward to a lone striker - agreed ?)
& that invariably brings us back to 'effort'...
fitness.
& the will to win.
Lets watch the Germans flood forward, & back into defense as need be tonight against Man United.
Rooney will stand out because his team mates around him will visibly not put the effort in that he will.
It will be plain to see.

Eight points for Town by my reckoning and a very indifferent finish to the season, just like the rest of it. It has been a tad frustrating and disappointing, but Town haven't struggled as much. Then again, the teams below have been pretty dire, so maybe Town's saving grace?
I want to see three up front, 4-3-3, lets bang some goals in and get that goal difference to a respectable level!
The Man Utd match could be a good one, they seem to be hitting a bit of form now, however, they have major injury woes at the back! Have they got the mettle to overcome Bayern? I'm not sure.

Burnley's Sam Vokes is out for the rest of season with ruptured knee ligaments and if Danny Ings is out injured much longer, I can see QPR, or Derby nicking the second auto place, since the above two have scored 40 of Burnley's 64 league goals to date.
Although QPR & Derby are currently 9 and 10 points respectively behind the Clarets, all with 7 games to play, they can't be ruled out of pinching Burnley's current auto spot at the death.
Looks unlikely to me, but stranger things have happened in the football, like Wor Lee missing out on promotion from League One with 87 points.

Mirf, I remember you saying that you wouldn't mention Lee Clark, unless someone brought his name up. Shame on you Mirf!
