RKW - he pretty much just repeats what he has said on here about Selby - slow play, bad sportmanship etc etc etc with a few choice words also.

It is easy to go on forums and spout such rubbish, but I wonder if he has ever been to tournaments and watch them. Any player would be ashamed to have a so-called fan behave in the way he has, and I doubt if he met Selby face-to-face that he would have the guts to say what he has written.

His comments show a real lack of understanding about what sport is about - yes, entertainment comes into it, but so does hard work, graft and will to win etc. Not everyone can play their sports in an aesthetically pleasing manner, and you need the contrast of styles to make the sport interesting.

I readily admit to Selby not being one of my favourite players, but I'm sure he's a decent bloke, and I can't help but admire the way he has battled to his first world title. I'm also sure that Selby would have loved to have played some of his best snooker throughout the final, but he dug in, hung in there, and then when it really mattered, produced the goods in the final session. A deserving and worthy winner.

I'm a fan of entertaining snooker and Selby isn't that type of player but the way he plays the game is to his strengths, which got him victory last night.

Ronnie didn't play his best snooker this year either, despite winning two matches with a session to spare. Even the best players have dips in form and despite him not being at his best he still made the final.

I think in sports which allow for individual flare, some individuals will be more naturally entertaining than others So just as we don't want to see someone continually grind their way to victory, it would also become dull if every frame had a century in it. I think having the mix of both makes a sport interesting, and of course for the player cncerned, their main goal at the end of the day is winning.

Every player has their own tactic to win and Selby executed it perfectly over the two days of the final. Well he did on Monday but looked tired on Sunday, yet still managed to hang in there and win the last two frames of Sunday's evening session when his back was truly against the wall. That's the sign of a true champion, and the one thing I admire most about Selby is his desire to never give up.

I don't get why people criticise Selby, if he played more open he'd lose. He's world champion so I doubt he cares though... Ronnie could have easily won but he threw away some frames, Selby took his chances.

To be fair to daniel, he was part of the old 606 boards and their endless GOAT debates of Ronnie Vs Hendry (Never understood why Davis was never in that debate), some anti-Ronnie or Hendry fans were just as childish, but the more mature posters were much more tolerant of them. Daniel has at least said good things about Hendry, I remember some posters from the old 606 that were worse.

Having GOAT debates can be fun up to a point, but when it includes resorting to belittiling other player's achievements and goes on for years, it becomes ridiculous and futile.

Federer - Nadal
Messi - Ronaldo
Manny - Floyd
Ronnie - Hendry

None of these debates ended well, in fact, I'm not sure if they were not just continued on other boards, but thankfully they are not on ja606.
