Morning all, took a while on Saturday but great to be back in a cup final
Just wanted to talk about referees, and in particular Phil Dowd yesterday. Now, we always hear the referees make rash decisions and we have the media, managers etc saying they should take their time with a big decision. Dowd did exactly this after Chico's second foul, he took his time to think about it and ended up dishing out a second yellow to Chico.
Yet, all I'm hearing today is complaints that he took too long, and that he must have been influenced. So, they act too quick = wrong and now it seems they take their time = wrong.
As it goes I think he made the right decision, both were yellows, shouldn't matter how close together they were or how early it was. He's taken his time to think about the situation and the foul and he's ultimately made the right call, yet some of the media are asking why he took so long.
Do you think ref's should be given a set amount of time after an incident to make a decision, or do you prefer it when they make a quick call?
Ps. WEMBERLYYY
Dowd taking his Chico time...

It doesn't bother me how long refs take to come to their decision as long as it's the right one.
What worries me is that it's 2014 and referees get paid a decent amount of dosh to on Average get more calls wrong than right in all aspects of the game be it goals, free kicks, throw ins etc etc.

I agree with the above, I dont care if the ref takes a full two minutes if he is getting it right in the end...

I prefer it when they make the right call, something that is notable by it's absence far too often.
As for the football media, ignore them. Lazy, partisan, agenda- driven, and ignorant of the game, most of them have nothing to say that most fans should be interested in.

More people should be talking about Clattenburg's awful display at Anfield.
