Listening to and reading the tributes and anecdotes shared by friends and associates something struck me deeply. It was how cruel timing can play its part in our lives.
Having lost my own father and other close family members to cancer I know all too well the agony both physically and emotionally simply dealing with such an illness effects not only the person themselves but those close to them.
It is in this context I cannot imagine the additional grief Sandy Jardine must have had to endure with everything he already had on his plate with what has happened to a club he so clearly loved deeply. The fact he took such a prominent role in addressing the issues facing the club at a time when it was certainly detrimental to his own health I cannot understate my admiration for this man.
To close I will go back to my opening point how cruel was time to him for had time simply shifted a couple of years he would not have had to have suffered the pain he must have felt regards a great love of his life in addition to his own issues.
God bless you Sandy

I suppose it's a back-handed compliment to say that I hated him as a player, not because he was a baw bag but because he was capable of tearing Celtic a new sphinchter.
Old school pro that loved the 'Gers.
Sandy Jardine RIP.
