I think because we already have a well established first 9-11ish first team players we can clear out the dead wood without there being a need for a rebuilding season. 9/10ths would be cover players imo.
Players have performed, over-performed, and under performed. If this season has taught us anything, we have one of the best 11's in the league, and maybe we had the chance for top two. But as a squad we are very weak, and generally the replacements put in a performance you'd expect from the team on the other side of the Trent.
First team
Darlow - fantastic although maybe better given more support upfield (8/10)
Lichaj - has been nothing short of solid, both left and right back. (8/10)
Wilson - been solid (when hes played) (8/10)
Hobbs - Solid and fantastic captain (9/10)
Jara - Very medicore. Might be him constantly changing positions, or low on confidence but he hasnt been the same player, even early on at RB. (5/10)
DCM - Vaughan - Solid in attack and defence (when he plays) (8/10)
CM - Reid - Player of the season imo. nuff said. (10/10)
CM - Lans - fantastic 'grit' player (8/10)
ACM - Pato - fantastic once he found his feet. (8/10)
STK - Cox - he has generally played in support of the midfield but baring a 5 game frenzy, couldnt hit a barn door when 2ft away. (6/10)
Realistically cohen will be at LB next season, so lichaj at RB as jaras contract probably wont be renewed. We just need a clinical first-team striker.
Team Members. Aka. This seasons first team.
Doris - Good but bouts of calamity. Good short term cover. (7/10)
LB - Harding - gets more flak than earnt but poor cover. (5/10)
LB - Fox - as bad as harding, just more attacking focused (5/10)
CB - Collins - Is much like doris but captaincy is poor under him and is more given by default than merit. Maybe better under another captain. (5/10)
Halford - Jack of all trades, master of none. He 'can' play everywhere, but not very well. Needs to pick somewhere or not good enough for anywhere. (4/10)
Lacelles - Done fantastically. Really stepped up bout could be more assured given a more stable partner. (8/10)
Gillet: Gone
Moussi: Both fantastic and dire. Not consistent enough, even as cover. (3/10)
Raddi: High hopes but has underperformed at every level (2/10)
Mclaughlin: Dont really know
Osborn: Done well given the time and circumstances.
Abdoun: Either fantastic quality or lazy wastefulness. You decide.
Hendo: Does whats needed. Scores. (7/10)
Mackie: Does whats needed. Doesnt score. (6/10)
Derbyshire : Doesnt do whats needed. Scores. Is off. (6/10)
Tudgay: Is off
Miller : Is off (thank fook)
Djebbour: ?
Blackstock: Injury table
In all honesty theres only collins, lacelles, doris, hendo, and mackie that i would trust in the first team to do a job. Everyone else is either not good enough, or not consistent enough.
With miller, derbyshire, tudgay, moussi, jara, and gillet contracts running out at the end of this season its almost convenient. We need a clinical striker, DCM cover, and a wingback or two and these leaving creates the room and the funds to do that. It just leaves us with raddi and halford who are tied down yet not performing.
Sound about right?

You make it sound like half of them are ready for the knackers yard.

I think only Wilson is a real crock. The rest should be fine with a rest over the summer. I do wonder what sort of football we'll play under Pearce though.

I remember BlackStarr mentioning Leicester's injury prevention strategy, maybe we should pay them a visit as it seems to work well.
It will also be interesting to see if SP's training regime has any positive or negative effects, as I think Davies liked to push his players quite hard, and this may have been a factor.

Was it something like this?

Hobbs was still on crutches at the Millwall game so it doesn't look like he is recovering particularly quickly. As has been said, I wonder if Forest have taken a gamble on him and Wilson. Every player comes with certain niggles and long standing concerns so no transfer is ever risk free but Wilson in particular seems to be really struggling to get fit.

Ray
We should definitely get one of them for Wilson!

Hobbs was coming back from a serious injury Will which is why Dull Tigers were willing to loan him to us for the season and lose out on a fee altogether. Any player struggles with other seemingly unrelated issues in these circumstances but at the point we signed him, he had already played in every game for half the season and been one of our best players.

Ben Osborn has signed a new 5 year contract today, he has shown signs of promise during Brazil's time, and hopefully will be a first team player soon.

Ray, just wondering why he was still on crutches when he was injured back in Jan? Seems a long time to me.

Correction-injured after the Huddersfield game in Feb, I think.
