Board stalls

RANGERS fans were last night urged not to hand over season-ticket cash today after the board stalled on a deal to safeguard the future of Ibrox and Murray Park.

The emergency peace talks were scrambled after fewer than 5000 punters opted to secure their seats.

And leading representatives from the Union of Fans
coalition group believed chief executive Graham Wallace was on the verge of agreeing to hand over legally-bound
assurances that neither the stadium nor the club’s
Auchenhowie training HQ would be used to raise cash to cover any shortfall.

But last night Craig Houston of the Sons of Struth revealed to Record Sport that there had been no further contact with the board.

He said: “It is with a deep sense of disappointment that I can confirm there has been no further movement.

“At present we have no agreement with the board and, for this reason, we cannot endorse the buying of season tickets.

I have to say I would struggle to justify renewing my season ticket if I lived in another country. Lisbon is far enough away but living halfway round the world is another matter.

I can perfectly understand why those who only buy their season ticket as symbolic gesture desire some assurance. They dont even get to go to the games.

I don't think folk should be trying to persuade others not to renew and that has been happening I have personally seen it at games. It's not on.

I dont think stevies opinion is less valid as he isn't telling anyone to renew or not, he is simply stating why he thinks the current option prompted to fans is wrong.

I like Stevie was not a season ticket holder for many reasons.

1. Couldn't afford it (thankfully I got a new job before admin)

2. My dad couldn't take me to games as a kid (he was on that stairway and vowed never to come back)

I didn't feel any less of a rangers fan though.

As soon as admin happened though I knew I wad putting money into the club no matter what happened for the rest of my life.

Curly you said it well some days ago when you pointed out that given what's going on there will be difference s between the fans but that eventually we will be back together one day.

Perhaps this meeting gives us the opportunity to do that.

If the board do not follow through with these assurances then that's unforgivable.

If the board provide them and the uof don't then back down that's equally polarizing.

I think we know have an issue that will finally resolve things one way or another.

I would like to explain any gibberish above by pointing out I'm a good bit tipsy

It's just pash mate pure as.

I'm hoping the board give the fans the assurances and we all get behind the team.

I know from folk I work with that the board are trying to sort things out but it's just an utter mess and they need time. Any other board will have the same problems.

If the board don't follow through with this promise though I reckon it's all over though.

They will lose any fan support they have abd rightly so.

That will lose to one of two things.

We limp along for a decade or so as we are until we eventually make it back abd shareholders can finally sell.

Admin 2 despite what some think we would never recover. -25 points. No outside investors ever touching us with a barge pole. Sane with any sponsors or commercial contracts. We would become a provincial club unless we adopted the Murray owner / benefactor model. Is that what we want again?

So I am hoping the board fulfil this promis or its game ocer

Least you are honest fella.

I personally don't think Murray was the villain he is now made out to be.

The sad thing is we had the chance to make rangers what we want it to be, but it's been messed up!
