hi guys
not sure how many of you have got the sky dedicated F1 channel that is on 24/7 , for those that have i was just wondering people"s opinion on it -
in my 30 yrs or so of watching F1 on the goggle box i have to say the sky F1 channel is streets ahead of anything else i have seen from the bbc / itv / whoever , far more professional , with a choice of experts that really know how many beans make 5 when it comes to talking about and presenting formula 1 and best of all presenting it in an intelligent manner with plenty of humour involved -
not to mention during the down time inbetween the races there are numerous stimulating interviews with many of the retired F1 drivers ,current team owners and the like, of which the hour long interviews with max mosley and frank williams make enthralling watching , must admit to even enjoying our nige ( mansell) giving alot of insight into his career even if do suspect that some of it had as much credibility as an arabs flip flop -
you of course have the occasional dud interview , ron dennis springs to mind with his own unique brand of tedious pompous eye wash that goes all round the houses before he states the obvious ,
john surtees was another ex driver that i found about as interesting as a dustbin lid , fully accept that is only my opinion on dennis and surtees -
would be interested on other peoples opinions on the sky dedicated F1 channel if they have it --
sky F1 channel -- the best to date ?

I actually didn't like Jake Humphrey at all, don't rate him as a sports presenter he's too much about making jokes. Simon Lazenby for me has outshone him.

I think that is what's missing in F1 today. Everything is so serious, so much of the same questions, over and over again by different journalists. Just have a watch at the Monaco press conference today and see why the light hearted approach makes the coverage so much more human, and easy to relate to.
Sky are great at covering the technical side to it, no doubt about it, that includes all the other sports they cover, like football. You then have a look at BT Sport's approach to its football coverage and it's so much more watchable (even though their commentators are atrocious).

In regards to the BBC team, Suzi Perry has been a horrible addition. Cannot present at all, zero chemistry between herself and the rest of the line up. They lost a massive asset in Gary Anderson, who would have been amazing the ways in which each team has approached this turbo/hybrid era.

Totally agree. SP was fine in MotoGP but doesn't seem right in F1. And I really did enjoy reading Gary's columns on the BBC website, they were incredibly informative. I know that's not strictly the tv side of F1 but all the same, it really added something to the whole package.
I do like DC and EJ. Never used to be a fan of DC but he's relaxed a little over the years and quite happily pokes fun at himself and EJ. Also, current drivers and most other F1 VIPs will talk to them both, like they will with Martin Brundle. I don't like Jake Humphrey and I remember a couple seasons ago it was him doing the grid walk trying to interview drivers and you could just tell the drivers were thinking "Who are you?"; it was pretty cringe worthy to watch.
But personally, I don't know why Lee McKenzie isn't doing the presenting instead of SP. She's directly involved in motorsport which means she has a better repartee with the drivers rather than just some random journalist. And she's not bad to look at either.

I like the SKY coverage and quite like Crofty, not sure why he gets so much stick.
Pinkham is the one I have issues with, she knows fk all and there's another blonde on sky, name escapes me now but she should be headlining the program instead of Pinkham.
I prefer Sky's coverage to the BBC's it is miles better.
The BBC destroyed motogp and I will never forgive them for that

i agree with u MUDD. THe only person i would bring across from BBC to sky is EJ. He is a flamboyant character, who you think is a bit mad, but comes out with some pearls of wisdom and insider knowledge etc.
However i have to say i like DC, his knowledge of the current cars is good, and explains car handling quite well, probably due to him being the most recent retiree.
Gary Anderson was great on the Tech stuff.
Sky i think is the better all round package, but i believe the BBC had some great features

Oh and i really need to mention the Ken Block and Lewis Hamilton Top Gear fest vids im sure you have all seen.
Im sorry, i am sure the new cars are wonderful and quick and technically impressive. But the sound, is of the old cars is just completely immense. Bernie is right, F1 is a brand, it has a sound, and the current sound isnt right!!!!

her name is Rachel Brooks and I am starting to agree with this. Since Georgie left Pinkham has lost her way becoming number one female on that show. Brooks seems like she does her homework well.

Thank you! Brooks is way more competent and is also more attractive, so not sure why Pinkham gets the top slot
