11 April 1981 - Hillsborough

http://news.sky.com/story/1271353/hillsborough-jury-shown-1981-crush-footage

I know this example has been spoken about many times in the past in relation to what happened in 1989, but watching the video footage for the first time, that has been released as part of the current proceedings is rather chilling.

To stop using Hillsborough as a venue following the incident in 1981 and bring it back in 1987, without no changes, is the first major mistake that the police and FA should be held to account for. Rather than this venue continued to be used for several years as a semi final venue it was only used twice more before the disaster, which just underlines that the authorities were lucky to get away without major incident in 1987 and 1988.

have they claimed to have done / not done things that was the opposite to what actually happened
---------------------------------------------
Many officers have admitted to changing statements, through direction of senior officers, in what they themselves have admitted was a determination to deflect any blame away from their force, and back on to the fans that attended that day.

My understanding of the basic facts is that the only scalp you can probably get for the actual deaths, is the inexperienced police commander in charge that day.

Maybe some FA "elf n safety" suit who signed off Hillsborough as being safe for the event, if you're lucky.

Sorry but this has been done soo many times, we need to move on and implement safe standing as they have in Germany. It's a different game these days.

Sorry RD but you haven't the first clue what you are talking about.
Sheffield council, the FA, and individual officers within south Yorkshire police are all currently under investigation as regards the unlawful killing of 96 people.
As organisations, and individuals, they face charges for manslaughter.
Many others face prosecution for perverting the course or justice, due to the doctoring of 411, out of 460 police statements.
Also facing potential prosecution, are members of south Yorkshire ambulance, who themselves were suspected of being involved in making false statements, to deflect responsibility for their failings that day, when many could have been saved, but were left to die, due to the level of incompetence they and the police displayed.
West midlands constabulary are also under investigation for altering fans statements also.

It's tragic what happened and I have every sympathy for the families of the victims seeking justice.

It bears no relevance to the game today though.

Quite a telling indictment of who takes the majority of the blame.
They can investigate who they wish, but again I reckon the heads delivered to the mob for causing the deaths will be as I suggested.

Didn't 30-odd people die after being left in the recovery position but later being turned onto their backs by people looking for relatives?

As I say, every sympathy but I've had enough of the mainstream coverage, as for it appearing on the Spurs board when we should be excited about the future..
