Lallana or Lovren

Assuming Southampton won't sell us more than two players, there's a dilemma over who to sign. Shaw, Sneiderlin and Clyne are options but its really between Lallana and Lovren. Consider, regardless of price, who would you rather have and then reconsider the likely price for either and conclude.

I'd rather have Lovren. Lallana is a good player and would no doubt improve us. However i think there are many more players who could improve us in an attacking sense than a defensive sense. The number of centre backs we could sign seems limited. Given the fact Lovren has had a year in the Premiership, has Champions League experience with Lovren, has leadership qualities having captained Lyon, can speak french (for Sakho partnership), is 24 and is simply a very good centre back, he seems the ideal candidate.

Especially when Lallana will cost at least 25m. Sign Sanchez or Pedro with that money and buy Lovren instead.

Two right-footed centre halves: never happened in the history of professional football.

If you meant left footed Shortlight, then I suggest you do some research!

If you are being sarcastic then lols!

I meant right-footed and yes I was being my usual sarky self.

It doesn't happen due to genetic occurance not because they have some physical impossibility.

----------------

Left footed players will will almost always play as the left sided CB. Right footed players have to be more flexible. because there are fewer left sided CB's.

You appear to assume that there is no difference in playing these positions, and this can be sorted out quite easily on the training ground.

I beg to differ as left footed players will have had little experience playing top level football as a right sided CB. Therefore I cannot envisage Agger/skrtel playing as a partnership if everyone is fit.

The fitness thing is rubbish.

They were both fit numerous times.

If BR planned on using them he would have done it.

The idea that two left-footed players can't play together is equally nonsensical.

In principle yes, but it's not that simple in practice.

IMO it's no more problematic than playing to right-footers. It's just a great deal rarer.

Care to back up the assertion that they were both fit simultaneously "multiple times" with any fact?

They were both on the bench loads of times when the other was playing.

You are clutching at straws.
