Play rooney on the left? No...didnt work. Play 2 in the middle? No..didnt work either did it. So, is roy going to be the boss with bolox or another pretender?
If he wants Rooney, sterling and sturridge our there then he had to play them in positions they best in; sturridge is your no9 while rooney can easilybe the no10, sterling can play anywhere really. Roy cannot make the same mistakes again, he either has to bench someone or put the issues right.
For uruguay id go:
..............................Hart......................
Gjohnson......cahill.....jags.....baines
..........................Gerrard....................
................hendo.............lallana.........
...........................Rooney....................
.........Sturridge..................Sterling....
Has roy learnt?

Not sure why I left Henderson in there.. I'd go with Barkley against Uruguay and just run at them.

If we can't fit Rooney in then drop him.
I've no beef with the lad but he rarely turns up at a tournament, didn't do too much against Italy and I'm looking to the future, Euro 2016.
Grow a pair Roy and stick him on the bench.
Maybe that will kickstart the 'myth' into life?

You either play Rooney as a no. 9 or no. 10 or he's dropped. It should be as simple as that.

No. Barkley is awful defensively and that would put too much pressure on Gerrard and Henderson. Rooney covered more distance than any other player against Italy I think and that'll be needed.

Hes too comfortable. He knows however poor he plays hel be on the team. Give him a reality check and he may actually turn next time he gets a chance. We all hate him but club rivalries aside we all know what he's capable of

If he is covering the most distance then it's not about effort is it. Either way if Rooney were to be dropped, which he won't be, then I'd have Ox or Lallana in ahead of Barkley.

Sterling and Rooney to drop in right and left respectively, when out of possession. England need to have three men in the middle and allow the front three to work their magic.

To be fair when you have mr negative tactics himself alex mcleish talking about woys negative tactics that should be a massive neon warning sign that change is needed.
Whilst I imagine rooney to be a complete idiot out of touch with real life and an attitude the size of sugarloaf mountain. He is the closest we have to a world class player play him up front. Sturridge is great looks dangerous but he also misses a lot more than he scores and struggles with the basics sometimes of trapping the ball or thinking about the game around him and ruining a good build up.
As it stands rooney will be scapegoated despite being pushed out wide and forced to perform defensively (against italy it was clear as day he was asked to watch and track their full back) thats completely unfair in my opinion.
