Well even by England's standards this is their most anti-climatic effort in a major tournament I can remember...............we are out after 6 days ffs.
And it seems to me Hodgson has been given a free pass on the basis he was brave enough to play some young and very talented players and that apparently the 2014 World Cup was just a tournament to prepare the team for Euro 2016, a tournament we have not even yet qualified for.
I find that reasoning very naive............
Firstly the World Cup is far too big a competition to treat as some kind of practice tournament, it is held every 4 years ffs........
Secondly,where is the assesment of Hodgson as a tactical manager, why is that not relevant?
Agst Italy he did nothing to stop Pirlo running the game, absolute madness.
Agst Uruguay he was incredibly slow to react with substitutions in a match which we were facing a World Cup exit as soon as Suarez scored.
He may continue to develop the young players for England but he will never be a winner.............he does not have what it takes.

If was a truly top player he would have scored 2 goals in both games.........I agree he was our best players agst Uruguay, but the truth is he is and has been massively overrated his whole career, and United are mad to let him mug them off not once but twice.

No, he converted the one solid chance he had and created another. Don't see te issue.
So what if he isn't in the elite? No one has said he is. And no other English player is either. That's completely irrelevant.

He had one other great chance agst Uruguay and hit it too close to the keeper and he had a great chance agst Italy and did not even hit the target

Hes done that at this world cup. No other England player has contributed more.

I agree with all you say, there is no problem, but he has been hyped up in England to an extent that he is viewed as a top world class player and to the extent where United have allowed him to almost blackmail them for a salary befitting of Ronaldo and or Messi.

Fact is he has not won a big game for England or made a major contribution in big games for England....players like Lineker, Shearer and Gascoigne did.

What a load of old hogwash.
Firstly, he isn't viewed as a top world class player, but he is a top player, he is yet to have a bad year for utd in 10 years. Infact hes been brilliant in about 8 of them. Only 2 where I could say he wasn't excellent.
What his salary has to do with anything is irrelevant at int level, but at club level he earns it.
He didn't blackmail anyone, completely wrong term, he negotiated, which a lot is based on image rights, and considering he is one of the worlds most marketable players, I would suggest its fair./

Hodgson is a disgrace saying man utd league form cost carrick cleverley when lampard got into euro 2012 with same points worse goal difference then man utd managed this season and liverpool were closer to the relegation zone that season then top 4 yet gerrard played again.
Liverpool fans want gerrard dropped and think he is 4th choice midfielder at best behind allen lucas henderson.
