Edinspur, he had excellent serve stats, in fact in the 3rd set he got 83% first serves in and won 85% of first serve points, those are incredible stats and far and away the best of the match.

Federer served well today, it’s rare to serve 29 and still lose but he had to rely on it because the ground strokes simply aren't what they were, understandable at 32 and disadvantage against Djokovic in this form. That said, the quality of tennis was very high today. Djokovic gave very little away in the 2nd and 3rd sets before losing his nerve in the 4th. IMO Fed had a big chance at the beginning of the 5th when Djokovic looked flat but once he pulled himself together, there was only going to be one winner. Sadly It’s probably the last time we will see Roger in a GS final unless the top seeds all take a shock tumble. End of an era

Federers ground strokes were falling away as the match grew and that comes down to fitness. He just hasnt got the legs to keep up with these young guys anymore

Fed kept up for 4 hours, no slips, no trips, no medical timeouts.
He did just fine.

Fed really looked his age in tennis terms at the beginning of the 4th. As for his legacy, unfortunately Wimbledon isnt the banker for him in the way the French is for Nadal which is why I think Nadal will beat his GS record.

Slam record certainly under threat, but not a foregone conclusion, will only get harder for Nadal.

Nadal has at least another 2-3 French Opens in him..he dismantled Djokovic with ease this year at RG and I still can't see anyone else challenging him there for some time. He will probably also win the AO again too and he manages his schedule much better nowadays.. Bottom line he has benefitted from the slowing down of the courts which enables him to unleash that brute of a forehand so effectively whereas this has probably worked to Fed's disadvantage. Also mentally he is virtually unequalled in sport - Fitness will be Nadal's biggest threat
