After watching yesterdays games (and a few earlier ones) I have noticed what seems to be a trend. It appears that FIFA do not want the unfancied sides progressing from the last 16, maybe it is not as it seems but questions have to be asked.
In both games yesterday the unfancied side went ahead and the goal was (in many people's views unfairly) ruled offside. The TV pundits are always harping on about giving the benefit of doubt to the attacking player yet this never happened.
If it had happened in yesterdays games then it was quite possible that at least Germany could have been eliminated as they didn't score until extra time.
Less so with the French as they did score both of their goals in normal time.

Matudi should have got a clear red.

Let's just think this through.
So what, a FIFA rep sits down with the officials, and tells them that he wants the 'big' side to go through?
And they just accept that?
Hmm.
