Rickie Lambert

Brendan Rodgers is reported to have said : Lambert has got a big part to play in my LFC plans . This being said by a guy that kicked out Andy Carroll because he was too slow . Lambert from what I have seen makes big Andy look like Usain Bolt . How in gods name can someone as slow as Lambert have a part to play in our very quick pass & move game .

I'm more concerned about a 'Liverpool fan' who has named himself Fergus and 20, which happens to be the amount of league titles United have won.

Make of that what you will.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's a cracker , I am now horrified to be associated with the only `person` I have ever hated . As I have already explained to another unbelieving clown on these boards the word `Fergus` was the name of my biggest ever mate ie my old Staffie god rest his soul . My wife at the time said something like `I don`t believe you have called the dog that` . 20 happens to be my birth day .

Again people mis quote and talk rubbish.

In the interview he says Lambert knows he won't be playing every week but will have a part to play.

Carrol was told that he wouldn't be first choice and as such wouldn't be playing week in week out. He moved for the sake of his career, he wasn't kicked out. BR would have kept him if he was happy with being a bit part player.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Rodgers would have given Carroll away when he first became manager because he was so obsessed with the ticka tacka idea . He is now slowly changing his views , the next one to change will be passing the ball for minutes on end in their own area , the players are not comfortable with it , & it invariably ends in an error.

Yep, happened loads last season didn't it. Was a real struggle. I just wish we could be competing for the title and in the CL again.

If our goals against is the same this season as last there is no way we will be in C/L .

Rickie Lambert isn't a player you hoof the ball to. Southampton are not West Ham or Stoke, they're actually one of the best passing teams in the league and almost always try to keep it on the ground.

He's basically a poor man's Berbatov

All last season the main criticism I heard towards our squad was a lack of a plan b. Rodgers goes out and buys an a striker who is different to anyone else we have at the club and now everyone says he won't fit our style and it was a poor signing.

How are we meant to have a plan b by buying players that are similar to ones we already have and 'fit' our system?

This isn't true at all. It was very rare Liverpool didn't create chances in a game last season, and your sloppy defending was by far the weak point.

What I have seen of Lambert so far , to compare him with Berbatov , is unbelievable .

Yeah I did feel a little wrong comparing the two. I was going to say "extremely poor man's" but went with the less harsh comment instead.

Let's just say he would play like Berbatov if he improved his best attributes by a helI of a lot
