Hi guys, I am back, I haven't used this for quite a while but however, I will try to use this more from now on as the season continues, it is good to be back as I've missed all the discussions. Anyway, I for one am excited for the new season as I honestly believe we have an amazing squad.
I believe our squad is more or less complete, we might be a central defender light but Ivanovic can cover that role & Zouma can gain some experience and learn from Terry in the meantime whilst we also have other youngsters out on loan for next season maybe. Also, we need to get rid of Torres one way or another but he just isn't budging because of his asking price and his outrageous wages. He is a third choice striker, but with Drogba at 36, we need someone younger I reckon hence why I believe if we sign someone like Remy who would cost £8.5 million, we can't go wrong but he has already failed a medical with us in the past so not sure whether this move will happen. Balotelli could be another good option as Jose has said that he will play 2 strikers at times like Drogba and Costa against Burnley.
Another issue I have is Oscar, some will agree and others will tend to disagree. I mean, I wouldn't mind having in our team if it means him doing the 'dirty work' which will give players like Hazard & Fabregas (still can't believe he is ours ) the freedom to get forward. But he just doesn't cut it for me in the final third as he needs to a whole lot better. This is a big season for him so he really needs to improve in that aspect as his assists/goals last year was quite shocking.
I would love your views on this & once again, it is good to be back.
Views on Oscar and squad?

Pretty late on this thread and haven't seen any of Chelsea preseason, but as a question, wouldn't it make sense to try playing Oscar deeper than Fabregas? Has JM tried this already? Pre-JM, didn't Oscar originally do well for Chelsea playing from deeper positions? Putting Cesc in a more advanced role might come at the expense of his distribution, but on the flip side playing him closer to the opposing goal could make more of his final ball and finishing ability.

CM is clearly Cesc's best position and that is where he wants to play.
Barca messed him about by playing him all over the shop but that is clearly not how you get the best from Cesc.

Oscar goal tally was on par with Hazard's excluding the pens last season. Just saying.

Fair enough lads, cheers for the replies. Your opinions are no doubt better informed than mine. I agree Barça were mistaken to shift him around so much, just I view Cesc as being equally accomplished in central areas closer to goal (not as a striker!!) and was under the impression Oscar was pretty successful in his earlier deeper role behind Mata (or am I mistaken and did he never play there?)

I thought Oscar put in a good performance on Monday. He linked up very nicely with Fabregas and Matic. I loved the little triangles we were playing in the 1st half between Matic, Fabregas and Oscar. Oscar also seemed to end a lot deeper then Matic and Fabregas at times, collecting the ball from the CB's.
With Fabregas now at the club their will be less pressure on Oscar to find the killer pass. He'll chip in with the goals just like Fabregas will. Also think he'll learn a lot playing next to Fabregas.

Tll Oscar was good first half. Second half dissapeared. And you say fab will take pressure of Oscar to find the killer pass but how many killer passes does he actually make anyways?

Nick the whole team went missing 2nd half. I was actually quite angry at the fact that we stopped playing in the 2nd half. Most of the half was spent hoofing the ball everywhere and anywhere.
I agree he doesn't look to play those killer passes that us fans expect from someone playing in his position. But now with Fabregas and Hazard besides him their isn't really any need for another creative player.
He'll be the legs in our midfield running up and down, closing the opposition down, dispossessing the opposition, getting goals and keeping things ticking in midfield.
I see him and Fabregas creating a great understanding.
