Transfers Summer 2010 - A comparison

A mate and I were just going over this summers' business, and we were speaking about Lallana (we don't think he's worth the price) - to which he said "at least he's not Poulsen".

This made me look back at the signings made that summer:

http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/latest-news/summer-2010-lfc-ins-and-outs#comments

A brief summary:
IN: Shelvey, Jovanovic, Cole, Wilson, Aurelio, Poulsen, Jones, Miereles, Konchesky, Suso, Hajdu.

OUT: (selected) Aurelio (!), Benayoun , Riera, Aquilani , Mascherano + many others.

Worst summer ever?

Also, some of the comments are golden...

Was only talking with a lad on work remember three summers ago we were struggling to sign Clint fecking Dempsey on deadline day!

No we look to be signing Mario with over a week left excellent summer window for me

I remember Cole was being touted as the "best deal of the summer" by some commentators.

Loving the name slumdog. The most disappointing player was Torres though because we expected him to drag us back to the champions league

Konchesky will probably be back at Anfield soon. Having hair has possibly helped him.

Someone should have told Reina...

Glad we have in Rodgers someone who recognises doing business early is key to getting the better signings instead of leaving it to the last minute when the season has already started.

We were in a fackin mess, that summer.
Stadtler and Waldorf had realised they couldn't afford the loans they'd taken out to buy the club, and were draining the money from the club, instead.

Rafa had been sacked because he was blowing the whistle on their activities, and Joe Cole wasn't even bought by the manager.
I remember Hodgson at the training-camp in Austria, like a rabbit in the headlights, trying to be positive about a signing he'd had nothing to do with.

Then telling us we were "lucky to get" Konchesky. (It was a bad situation for Roy to get into in the first place, and I have some sympathy with him for that, but he didn't cope with it very well, either).

Absolute fackin car-crash. Winning that court-case was more important to the club’s future than winning the league.

Soot on wessie. Whatever happens to fsg in the future, for me they go along with Dalglish and gerrard as liverpool greats....its that simple.

They take us to the success we dream of then no doubt. But no one remembers owners, they remember managers, players, goals and atmospheres.

Dark dark days. It makes me shudder to think just how close we came to oblivion.

Now look at us, squad fackin oozing depth and quality. Future looks bright
