Has Giroud played his last game for Arsenal

With the signing of Welbeck, a much better striker than Giroud, we now have a more mobile forward who gets behind defences and will hopefully be a success at Arsenal.

Giroud has less than 2 years left on his contract and with him now suffering a serious injury, he will be at the stage where he is at an all time low from a bargaining position.

The fact that he came back to Arsenal fat and unfit surely bothered Arsene, add this to his previous mishaps and unfaithfulness to his wife, and his general awfulness, could Arsene be tempted to cash in in January, when Giroud comes back? After all, he believed we had the right number of forwards so one of our strikers are gonna have to make way and I can't see it being his pet Sanogo.

I can definitely see him being sold, possibly to somebody like Monaco, Zenit or QPR.

'Weren't you banging on about Spurs being title favourites last season"

errr....no

I found the idea laughable

Giroud is being offered a contract till 2018

Good! Last time I checked, we don't exactly have strength in depth in the position do we. So are in no position to be getting rid of a pretty much 20 goal a season striker. Even in a best case dream scenario where Welbeck gets 35 goals, we have to keep Giroud.

Sell Giroud in January, take Falcao off our feeder club United in June.

Falcao will be at Monaco in June unless we buy him.

Welbeck isn't very good. But he is much more mobile, knows how to use his strength more than Giroud and occasionally punts a ball in.
This automatically makes him better than Giroud.

Dont let GT see this. He'll probably cry.

Quite simply....

Welbeck/Theo/Alexis have till Jan/Feb to prove they can do a job for us. If they can then there will be no need to buy a striker next summer. If they can't we will need a Cavani next summer.

So either way I can't see how Giroud will fit into the plans. In fact the Sun were reporting that the reason for the new contract offer is to strengthen Arsenal's position in a sale next summer otherwise he will only have a season left so will drive his asking price down. In fact, perversely, not offering Giroud a new contract will keep him at Arsenal for longer! Because no one can expect Giroud's price to go up at age 30 when his present deal runs out, having been a backup for the previous 2 years.
