From Tony Adams to Paddy to......

...Arteta! Sums us up really..(from lions to a lamb) as our captain, this team is soft, soft, soft, it also is basically carrying upwards of two to three passengers in midfield at this time.

After watching that shambles last night what does Arteta really contribute to our midfield? Seriously now...defensive stability...calmness...leadership, technical nous...what?

How about Ozil? Even Ramsey as of recent vintage?

The reality is we are now totally carrying players in our midfield who are bringing absolutely nothing to our middle....thus opposition players are ghosting through our midfield and are up on our defense with embarrassing ease!

Unless Arsene sorts this out i am foreseeing big, big problems against any team that is remotely up for it against us my fellow gunners! (never mind the so called "big" teams)

When was the last time Arsenal displayed the level of intensity and single handed commitment shown by Dortmund last night?

As stated above the fact that Arteta is our captain starkly highlights ALL that is wrong with the present Arsenal set up!

Ozil and Ramsey's problems stem from the shift of formations to something the team is not familiar or comfortable with. That can easily and quickly be remedied.

However, our DM problem is something that can only be sorted out in Jan, if that. It's not Artetas fault. He isn't a DM no matter how much Wenger pretends he might be. He's lost his legs and his positional sense is woeful.

As a short term solution, if we're desperate enough, how about Chambers in midfield? I haven't a clue how good he might play, but worth the punt?

Can we opt out of having a captain, do you have to have one?

That's actually a decent point from Choice

Arsenal have no natural leaders. Mert looked to be one, but he's started off slowly this season. Besides, for Arsenal does it matter who's captain. It's not like Wenger actually cares about it.

Mert, Kos...certainly not Arteta ffs..I don't care about how he really cares, he is a distinct liability and shouldn't be any way near our first eleven!

It's a tactic to ensure Arteta leaves at the end of the season.

We certainly should drop Ozil and Ramsey, bring ox and cazorla in. I wish we could drop arteta but we're so thin in that position it's hard. Could maybe coq do better? Or rosicky, he's a good tackler and has more energy, but could probably easily get bullied off the ball. But so does arteta. Wish diaby wasn't such a injured mess!

We absolutely should be starting Coq as of now, at the minimum he would bring more athleticism, speed to that position...Arteta is bringing nothing

All the captains armband means is you shake the opposition captains hand at the start and call heads or tails.
Leaders stand up in the dressing room and on the pitch, armband or no armband.

True he doesn't, my overall point remains about the distinct lack of leadership on display, it just so happens that our absolute leaders of past vintage happened to be our captains

It should have been sorted years now! Shocking negligence once again from Wenger
