• Bolton won 3-2 against Rotherham at home on Tuesday - their first league win of the season, but have lost all three of their away games in the league, against Watford, Brighton and Leeds.
• Dougie Freedman believes he can turn new signing Max Clayton into the goalscorer Wanderers fans have been waiting for. The Whites boss ended a summer-long battle to sign the former Crewe striker this week and could name him on the bench at Wolves this afternoon. While the Scot is reluctant to put too much pressure on the 20-year-old right away, he is confident the England youth international has the raw talent to become a success at the Macron Stadium.
• Football fans find lots of reasons to start a rivalry – most often geography, sometimes envied success, but every once in a while a fixture crops up that just brings out the worst in everyone... Wednesday, May 17, 1995, and Alan Thompson’s corner was bouncing around the Wolves box at Burnden Park with Wanderers trying to get themselves back into the game. Amidst the sea of bodies, keeper Mike Stowell dived on the ball. Standing above him, David Kelly aimed a shove at John McGinlay, who then swung what he later described as a “little tap" in return. Irishman Kelly landed flat on his back. To those of us who were watching on TV, the action was described thus: “McGinlay’s gone in fighting for it, Stowell has gone in bravely," roared commentator Alan Parry on the night. “A punch was thrown! A punch was thrown!"

£164m

Is ten years in the prem really worth putting your club at risk.

I have always argued against spending crazy money and this proves my point perfectly.

The worrying thing is the debt although not bank debt is now more than what eddie davies is actually worth. Also the owner and chairman have gone into lockdown, total silence from the club.Looking back it might have been better to have got relegated after sam went.

There is a pay-off for spending £120m maintaining Premiership status - are the losses written off, or will the owner want his pound of flesh?

It must be bad if our debt went from £120 million to £164 million in two minutes.

Thought we played OK on the second half. Poor first half though, and the goal was coming.

As much as accept 'where we are' we are still better than THIS. Even though the debt continues to increase, we are not a bottom five Championship setup. We can do better than this

Final comment from me after seeing the highlights. Dervite is badly at fault for the goal, he should be winning that header bit harsh on lonergan. The penalty was a poor one but how did garvan miss virtually a open goal from the rebound. To the wolves fans, good win for you guys shows what can be done with a good manager.

You've been stung by the Barcelona of the Championship.

Bolton fans,

you looked way too good to have the slim haul of points you've managed so far. it was also refreshing for an out of form club to come and have a go at playing football and winning the game, rather than sitting back 10 men deep trying to defend the draw.

I think we should have scored two or three first half when we were well on top, but we didn't and the withdrawal of our main striker left us looking slow and easy to mark going forward for spells in the second half. Bolton played well and could easily have had a couple on another day.

if it had ended 1-1 I don't think either set of fans could have complained. I'm glad we got the win but I don't see Bolton in danger this season unless yr financial problems catch up with you. you were way better than the hopeless hoof and rush cardiff we played earlier in the season.
