To quote Sir Alex Ferguson

"Attack wins you games, defence wins you titles"

People can cream as much as they want over our attack force, complain as much as they want about referee decisions, but we are going to remain like this until we bring in a defence that has the capability to actually defend.

6 games under van Gaal

1 mid-table club and 1 team just surviving relegation
Scored: 2
Conceded: 3
Points: 1/6

3 newly promoted teams
Scored: 7
Conceded: 5
Points: 4/9

League 1 - MK Dons
Scored: 0
Conceded: 4
Knocked out

Probably one of the most embarrassing starts we could have imagined to this campaign... That is relegation form when you consider the opponents!

Philosophy though, right?

Established premiership teams, not exactly Burnley, and Leicester city are they?

Which is the OP's point. Our fixtures are only going to get harder.

EDIT

Which is the OP's point. YOUR fixtures are only going to get harder.

Wel get better don't worry. Most have dropped points unexpectedly. We have more reason than most for our poor start (new manager, players, tactics)

Not really, with the easiest start to the season from all the teams, bar none, you should be having more than 5 points on the board.

United fans on ja are hilarious. Last week some were writing articles about winning the title...

Today I've only opened two articles so far - one asking whether LVG should be sacked and the other talking about relegation form.

Both equally absurd points of view. Fickle much?

Our performances are improving but its the results that matter.

We still don't have a settled squad and LVG said it would take 3 months before the players adapt to his style.

After such a long period of watching boring - sometimes dire - football, I will take performances over results in the short term.

It is clear that our problems are significant but they are all defensive at the moment. Last season at times our problems were all over the pitch so it was hard to determine where to even start criticising. Now that our problems are clear and localised they can be more easily addressed.

We defended like school boys today. Surely any half decent coaching team can fix that?

What's with all the comments about a new manager, new players and new tactics being excuses for Utd's dreadful start to another season. Answer me this. Where are Southampton currently in the table? Unbelievably blinkered.

Only if you think Southampton will finish above us this season.

If you really can't see how losing 14 players (including all our experienced defenders and our captain and vice captain) and signing 6 new ones (one of which hasn't even played yet) can destabilise a team then I'm struggling to conjure up a compelling reason to engage you in debate.

Nobody is saying we have started well. All we are saying is that we will undoubtedly get better. If you don't think we will then you're an idiot but that's up to you...Nothing blinkered about it though.
