Ozil - Officially a flop?

Sorry all you Ozil fans, Ozil is officially a flop. He has been here for over a season and has yet to show why anyone would shell out 42m for him. His work ethic is non existant, he shy's away from challenges and most crucially he does not offer much going forward.

So a question to you Arsenal fans, do you still rate him as a World Class player? If you could would you reverse the transfer and spend the money on someone else. Is it all wengers fault for playing him wide. Would you sell him if someone offered 30m?

The money shouldn't matter - he didn’t choose his price tag. Quality footballer though and form is temporary. Luckily he has the stalwart fans of Arsenal who stick by their players thick and thin and salute their legends.

Where does Ozil play for Germany? I thought he plays on the left too. Seems to do alright for them-
-------
During the qualifiers he played in the Middle and was there top scorer and had plenty of assists. He moved out wide on the left for the world cup as Reus got injured. He did ok but nowhere near as good as when he was in the middle.

Also Germany are a team that can handle themselves and arent full of weak midgets like arsenal.

Hummels, Boateng, Khedira, Schwinfhfhg, Muller, Klose all beast players.

You kick Ozil in the Germany team ur gonna have Khedira, Muller, Schwinny ect in your face.

Kick Ozil in the Arsenal team and you have Jack Wilshite and the man mountains called Flamini and Cazorla lol.

I know this is a wind up article..

but as I am here today i will answer;

I think he is on the cusp of being a real flop. This league and Arsenal do not seem to suit him at all...

I would begrudgingly take 30 mil for him in teh summer, would want nearer 35 / 40, but if it was going to be 30 or keep him I would cut losses and move on.

Hindsight is also a wonderful thing though.

This isn't about Spurs and yes I do support them and would freely admit Soldado, Chriches, Paulinho have been almighty flops for us, money down the drain.

I am just asking if you think Ozil is in that bracket, in mhy opinion he is but it's your I am asking for.

He's been played wide because he cannot be trusted to contribute to the hard work side of the game in the crucial central areas, allied to the fact that centrally Arsenal lack any real strength. Arteta is a statue and easily bypassed and Wilshere is no DM and is made of glass anyway.

The balance is all wrong at Arsenal which has detracted from Ozil's game. If you compare to his time at Real , under Jose, Real's CM was a lot more solid and Ozil was given more freedom to express himself and put it on a plate for CR7.

Interesting comparison is that he was trusted at Real by a demanding Jose who does not accept players who fail to meet the defensive responsibilities in the team. Jose did not trust Mata and sold him on. So Ozil is capable of the hard yards but Wenger does not put that responsibility on him and he is a weakness.

So for me this is a failing of Wenger. A defensive minded Jose got the best out of him but Wenger wants too many small ball players over the pitch and Ozil's game is compromised. He needs the safety net of 1 or 2 proper DMs to allow him to play the No.10 role and be at his most effective.

He is not yet a flop. When the team starts performing well as a whole with the likes of Theo fit then we can judge. He does strike me as a bit of a flat track bully type player and we have a run of 5 easy fixtures after the international break (when Walcott will be back) so come back in 5 games time.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

So he needs the whole team to be playing well otherwise he's completely guff? That's not a £42.5m player I'm afraid.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
One common misconception is that he's been 'completely guff' when he actually hasn't. Poor setup owing to the reluctance to strengthen key areas such as DM don't help either.
He has his failings and currently underperforms but the eagerness of rival fans to brand him as a flop is totally out of proportion.

Ozil is a No 10. He was Germany's best player in the qualifiers. When he played as LM due to Reus being injured, he was not as good. Same with Arsenal.

Play him as a No 10 for a few games and watch him transform his game and Arsenal's fortunes.

Devonshirespur - he is a top No 10 and you know it. If we play Arteta and Ramsey behind him in a deeper role, it will actually stop goals as well.
