KP

Love him or hate him, KP was a box-office hit when he played cricket and continues to do when he is playing with his mouth.

Cricket always needed characters like him, especially test cricket, and more importantly English cricket.

Yea or Nay?

IMHO, if we limit the time period to the past 15 years, the following get my recognition (not in the order of merit):

1. Flower

2. Sangakkara
3. Jayawardene
4. Samarawera

5. Lara
6. Chanderpaul

7. Yousuf
8. Inzy
9. Younis Khan

10. Ponting
11. Hayden
12. Steve Waugh
13. Hussey
14. Langer
15. Martyn
16. Gilchrist
17. Clarke

18. Tendulkar
19. Dravid
20. Sehwag
21. Laxman

22. Thorpe
23. KP
24. Cook
25. Trott
26. Bell

27. Kallis
28. Amla
29. ABD
30. G Smith

31. Ross Taylor

Well, as it turned out, the count came to 31. If you wish to remove one from the list, would it be G Smith, D Martyn, Bell, Langer, Younis, or Samarawera?

regardless of where he is in the greater scheme of things...its clear that this current england set up still needs him....and everyone needs to put ego's/personal feelings to one side and get on with making us a force again.

You should have Ian Bell in that list.. hes scored well over 7000 runs and averaging 45..
Scored 4 ashes 100s in 5 tests recently.. apart from last ashes series. where no England batters did anything.

Why does the current England set up need him?? Ballance and Root are starting to show some promise.
England are missing an opener and a number 6.. I still think Moeen will become a genuine alrounder.. And the way Buttler batted against India.. he was very patient at times.. shows the lads got real talent.

A donkey could have battered the Indian bowling attack though.

Nothing new tho? I think England will bat better in England than they did in Aus. cant get any worse though.

Harmison believes Giles lost his coach job because he backed KP.

Its funny how ppl precieve things when they are biased,. Like harmison is a big mates with Giles. So thinks he was got shot off because of KP..

Kevin Pietersen was immense for England, especially when Flintoff was firing as well, the two of them drove the England team from being less than average to being top of the world.

In fact their attitude is the very thing lacking in the current England team. We wilt at the first sign of a tough game.
