in my view a very good decision to ban drs through eau rouge, personally i think it should be banned altogether,an accident waiting to happen
it might encourage the casual viewer to keep tuned, but us petrol heads aren't that easily fooled
formula 1 is already exteremly dangerous, flirting with technology like this isn't the way forward,we want wheel to wheel, not an easy pass with drs, that at some time will fail, that could be disastrous
do we need drs in formula 1? what do my fellow f1 purists think?
DRS?

never been a fan of DRS , for me it is nothing more than a gimmick that gives the following driver an artificial manufactured advantage over the driver in front ,
no doubt the younger fans will think it is wonderful , afraid to say it does nothing for me
i have allways thought the real overtaking culprit in recent yrs has been the bullet fast idiot proof seamless shift gear change in the cars that makes changing gears so easy for the drivers,
it will never happen , but get rid of the seamless shift gearchange and the overtaking will come back into F1 without the need for artificial gimmicks like the DRS --

Whilst I like the idea of DRS, I'm not too keen on its current use. I'd much prefer each driver to be given 200 (or what ever) seconds of DRS per race. They can use it where ever and when ever they like.
To me missing a gear is just as artificial as DRS. Yes DRS is just a button but a missed gear change usually results in the other car just driving past on a straight, boring! I much prefer a late braking overtake or the following car getting a good slingshot out of a corner and doing the overtake on pure skill alone.
Hopefully I'm old enough for my point to count

How ever much we may want it, we are never going to get "H" gear boxes back in F1, not really the room in the modern monocoque design, also (and maybe more of an issue) the safety factor of having a gear stick in there with the drivers.
What I see as an alterable issue, that affects over taking in F1; is the down force and the way cars can follow each other down the straights, now this has been addressed in recent years with the reduction of the rear wings and diffusers but I really think the teams need more freedom to exploit different aspects of mechanical grip whether that means more tyre manufactures or some sort of active suspension not really sure.
Also I don't like the ban on "in race refuelling", the longer wheel base cars(to accommodate) seem more stable than pre 2010 aslo they don't look as good to me any way out of proportion some how, I know there where safety issues around this, but other than 3/4 incidents in the previous 10/15 years I can't really remember that many Jos Verstappen in 1994ish and maybe a couple of others.

They should just use the two softest Pirelli tyres each race. That is the real cause of increased overtaking this season. DRS I dont mind as much as some, but it isnt really needed.

I would get rid of the DRS altogether. I'm not a fan of it. I do not mind the KERS as everyone's got it available.
The DRS punishes the guy infront and is not needed. If an F1 driver cannot overtake someone on a straight then he's in the wrong sport.

F1 is safe compared to many sports nowadays. As for DRS failing and cause a disaster.......................how?
