Steve, what you think about Dave King?

"Steve, what you think about Dave King?"

I think he'd put money in but would also look to get a return for it.

All the signals I get from King is that he wants to chase Celtic and catch them as soon as possible, and that worries me, becasue catching Celtic is not our top priority, stopping money flowing out the place like a river is, and more time and attention should be put towards that than anything else...I dont get the feeling form King thats his top priority, at all.

At Newcastle, Ashley, Llambias and Pardew who's bought into what they want to do, try to use as many players with potentinal, who can be bought cheaply, and youth players coming through the ranks, to garner results to sustain the club in the Premier League.

Thats precisely what we shoud be doing at Rangers. using playes with potential and youth to try and keep the club at the top of the game in Scotland.

King??....I dont think he would hesitiate to splash the cash to get a big name in the door in order to catch Celtic asap, completely wrong strategy to take IMO, we've spent enough cash on these kind of signings and they crippled us because they had fck all sell on value and took a fortune in wages.

Do I beleive King has the clubs best interest at Heart, yes I do, at least on the pitch.

Off it....put it this way.

People look at Ashley and think Charles Green and the mess the club got in under him, simple becasue Green brought him to the table...I dont buy that because Green didnt put any money in himslef, Ashley would and that makes a world of difference and looking at Newcastle under Ashley is a far better comparison to make.

When I look at Dave King, I see another David Murray, it was Murray who brought him to the table and I think a much more likely comparison could be made between those men.....they are guys with money behind them harbouring pipedreams, who think the best thing for the club is to bankroll a quest to go after those pipedreams.

That all ended in tears under Murray.....would it be different under King?? I'm not so sure myself

Very well put Stevie

Stevie...It was well put but I'm not sure I agree.

King has been called a lot of things over the past few years...we all know about that. I don't think 'stupid' is one of them. The lessons of the Murray years are there for all to see...I don't think anyone would want to repeat them.
Furthermore, that type of recklessness requires either very deep pockets or the compliance of your bankers.
I can't see a repeat of that.
King's involvement is a mystery to me. The only options I can see are -

1 he's not actually interested himself but is acting on behalf of others
2 he's not actually interested in getting involved but wants to influence events to secure what he sees as the best possible outcome
3 he just likes kicking tyres and playing the big shot
4 he has a credible and sustainable business plan to put the club on a firm footing and make a few quid for himself along the way

That's all I can imagine.

As for Ashley....he will milk the club for all that he can get. If that involves strengthening the team to put a better product on the pitch then that's what he will do. On balance it's probably better for you to be milked by someone with cash that to be milked by the spivs who are doing it today

This is Dave King's statement from earlier in the year, it certainly lends weight to Steve's arguments:

Could it end up the one who you might not want at the helm of your club but the one who you trust the most?

Almost how I have ended up voting over the last 20yrs, not always the MP I want but the one that I hate the least

Magnum

Of the options you put forward I honestly think it is number 4.

but its his desrie to catch Celtic asap that worries me.

Getting the club stabalised and sustaining itself should be the upmost top priority, I fully believe it will be Ashley's.

If it means a period of stagnation on the pitch for a period while we get the house in order, thats what it means

Cant see King going for that if its needed.
