Wenger responds to Per

"Arsene Wenger does not believe there is a problem with the intensity of Arsenal's training after Per Mertesacker suggested they need to work harder."

Wenger said: 'I don't know what he meant by that. But you have to be careful with statements after the game. I think we train very hard, the attitude is right and the spirit is there.'

I have no problem with Per's criticism, but hasn't he been at fault lately for some of our goals, either directly or indirectly? And don't forget that we were lucky Aluko didn't punish us for Per's blunder in the FA Cup final.

Whats screwed us over is that we sold Vermealen and then didnt get another CB as cover.

Chambers was the cover for RB as Jenko went on loan.

If Chambers was the cover for Jenko, how come he plays at CB and Jenko doesn't? Which suggests to me that Bellerin was promoted to cover Jenko, while Chambers fills the spot Vermaelen vacated.

Jenko is just not Arsenal material yet. Loan move was very good for him.

Mertesacker was responsible for both goals against Hull

He also got the assist for Alexis' goal.

On the whole, Mertesacker was good against Hull. Put in the kind of shift that is better appreciated in the flesh than on the tele. The real issue was the lack of cover for him. Only Bellerin was there to stop counters.

Bellerin is a very good right back, must be one of the fastest most energetic players we have. Just needs to work on his attacking threat

Never rated him and although what he said is clearly is evident if you watch us, to come out with it publicly maybe an indication that Wenger's lost the dressing room.

Well thats the whole problem with Per in a nutshell!

We need a right back (as Sagna used to do) and Kos to cover for Mertesackers lack of pace.

Thats not a very good team is it? Not one that can win major trophies! Now we have money, surly all our players need to be top class and not need other players to cover for their deficiencies??

Per should play back up to new CB. Arsenal need to spend on DM and CB in Jan.

Why the hell doesn't he go ask him! He is still the manager isn't he?

let's face it if Wenger were on the apprentice Sugar would find lot's of excuses to say "and for that reason ..with regret...you're fired"

How about 1) not buying adequate replacements for sold players/ long-term injuries 2) persisting with outdated tactics 3) not studying and adapting to the opposition 4) playing players out of position CONSTANTLY 5) being disingenuous to fans during pressers 6) being stubborn to a fault 7) Not carrying a thorough investigation using an outside team into why we are repeatedly struck down by injuries.

Any one of these should be a firing offence but Teflon Wenger is still there . He should have walked after the FA cup win. Gazidis should have had a replacement lined up.
