http://www.irishtimes.com/news/crime-and-law/roy-keane-and-supporter-in-altercation-at-ireland-team-hotel-1.1998489

Unconfirmed reports are saying the man (Scottish) approached James McCarthy and Aiden McGeady (Irish) and proceeded to ‘boo’ them. Keane, sticking up for his fellow countrymen, intervened and knocked the man clean out.

Do you work for a red topped comic, with a load of bullpoo headline like that?

In a statement last night the FAI complained of “inaccurate media reporting” regarding the incident, but did not go into specific detail. “We wish to clarify that Roy Keane called the gardaí following the incident,” the FAI said.

“The manager, Martin O’Neill and the FAI are fully aware of the circumstances surrounding this event and the assistant manager has their full support,” it added.

off topic, was having a discussion with lads in work this morning about Glenn Whelan, what is your opinion on him as a player - good or bad?

Personally, I think he’s poison. His passing and shooting is horrendous. ‘But he’s a defensive midfielder’ people say. Well he’s not very good at tackling or breaking down the play either. The only thing he seems to be good at is side-way passes less than 10ft. He’s an Irish version of Carrick
