Hi all,
I've only recently over the last few weeks started watching the NFL and I'm starting to develop a real taste for it.
I love the attritional element of it and find it far more exciting and impressive than Rugby, which I find a bit slow and repetitive.
My question is, what should I be looking to take into account when picking a team?
I've only seen about 8 teams play so far and if I base it on who I most enjoyed watching it would be the Jacksonville Jaguars.
However, my American friends are big Green Bay fans so I'd have someone to relate to if I went with them.
Alternatively, my favourite American City by a distance is New York; love the place and would uproot my entire life for the chance to live there.
Should I give it a season before deciding? I would like to pick a team before I'm affected by 'glory' as I currently have absolutely no idea which teams are good and which are useless!

Its not like football ( soccer) so teams that are currently useless should become much better over a few years. A teams performance is usually cyclical although some team seem to do very well all over a number of years and others poorly but thats generally down to management and ownership. Money is irrelevant so its not down to that unlike football.
If i were you i would wait and see which team you develop a liking and an affinity for. For me it was the Miami Dolphins when i first saw an American football game and saw Fulton Walker run back a kick off 98 yards in the super bowl against the Redskins over 30 years ago ( many times ,including now, i have regretted that choice but i stick with them). I liked the uniform too.
Dont just pick a team because they are currently good.Thats the worst reason i can think of.

So says a football fan that watches a sport full of preening primadonnas that dive, cheat, cry, whine and generally behave like a load of babies as opposed to one of the toughest most dangerous sports in the world for guys as hard as nails. Aye, well done. Glory hunter too by the looks of it.Tool.

The Dolphins are huge rivals of the Jets , tahst why we dont especially like them although i dont mind them. I hate the Pats though and their glory hunting fans in the UK most of whom support them because they possible winners every year.
