Its easy to slag of Wenger these days but if you consider that Alexis is more effective in the withdraw striker position why cant Ozil be an effective player from the wing.
The same people who complain why we did not sign Cesc in the summer where happy to see Ozil shunted to the wing to accommodate Cesc but still use the "Ozil being played out of position" excuse to attack our manager.
Ozil is a frustrating player no question, but its not like he has no ability or end product. He is approaching his prime and has achieved far more than other players who play in his position have achieved at the age of 25.
Yes the premier league is physical but he is a class player with bags of ability. Doesnt matter how much he is bullied, he simply needs to be a clever player and fight back.Yes he cant play in his best position but we have Sanchez who is better in that withdrawn role. Sanchez thrives on short passes and plays better with players close to him.He is also better suited to help Danny press in those areas.
Danny and Sanchez will open up spaces for Ozil to run into from the wing ala Bobby Pires. Gibbs is a defensive full back who can cover for him on the wing. It also makes Ozil harder to man mark the way Cesc has been nullified in big games giving him more time on the ball.
It all comes down to the player himself.People may abuse Wenger but long term Sanchez in the withdrawn position with Theo and Ozil on the wings will give us better balance.
Our defence will gradually improve and we will become a better outfit but certain players need to pull their finger out.
Why cant Ozil be our Bobby Pires

So who is Özil's Vieira in the current team? Wilshere? Ramsey? Flamini? Two of those guys play for themselves before the team, whilst the other barely manages even that.

Best comment of the day. I remember 2 seasons ago after we got beaten by Bayern, the team started to play together and we went on an amazing run (would have won the league from January to January).
Unfortunately now, we have a group of individual whom everyone is looking for the headlines.
Wilshere and Ramsey both leading particularly that group.

It's true they defintley don't play got each other anymore. What most of you are saying sounds like you've been listening to alan Davis recently on Tuesday club! Either way he was making some great points and it's worth a listen.
Anyway, yeah They're all looking for personal glory, the midfield is riddled with players like that. Probably only giroud, sanchez welbeck would prioritise a good team performance for a poorer personal one and work hard for their team mates. Gibbs, mert and kos will play and cover one and other when playing. But take one of them out, and it falls apart. Midfield will happily sit and watch each other get skinned or a fall back roasted, and will do feck all about it to help. It's like a team from the Apprentice! They'll all to concerned about showing off their own ability, than realising it's a team game. It's Like a playground footie game with us.
Got sanchez working his arsė off all game, yet others are total passengers, and are happy to play within themselves. Must be demoralising for him.

"That simply doesn't happen with this new team at all, perhaps bar Kos and Merte. Look back to the Swansea game and how little Chamberlain did to help out his 'great mate' Chambers when he was being turned inside out for 90 minutes by Montero."
I don't think it's fair to critcise Chamberlain's defensive contribution. He faced Montero four times when Chambers had got caught upfield, and whilst Chamberlain conceded a foul on one occasion, the other three times, Montero couldn't get round him - a much more successful one-on-one duel record than Chambers had against the Ecuadorian.
There's really only so much Chamberlain can be expected to do, and I think he did his job as well as one could expect.
If you look at the goal, for example, Chamberlain tracks back to support Chambers - standing in the space inside to cover for any underlapping role of Taylor, as well as preventing Montero from cutting inside.
In theory, this sort of positioning makes the full-backs job relatively straight-forward, since the winger only has one place to go (down the line) - meaning the full-back can give himself a yard or two to cover the byline.
Unfortunately, Chambers simply didn't have the pace to prevent Montero beating him down the line (which he did on ample occasions in the match).
Chamberlain consistently tracked Taylor, as well as covering in-case Montero cut back inside. As the full-back, it's Chambers' sole responsibility to cover the run down the line, and as highly as I rate Chambers (as a CB at least), I would say it was solely his fault that they got so much joy down that side.

How long have you got ?
Ozil is not fit to lace his boots. He will probably be gone at end of the season.

^But as I say, Chamberlain did help defend.
Look at the goal they scored:
Chamberlain tracks back to support Chambers - standing in the space inside to cover for any underlapping role of Taylor, as well as preventing Montero from cutting inside.
The exact same thing happened with the Bony chance as well; Chamberlain tracked back (all the way into his own penalty area) and covered Chambers - meaning Chambers could anticipate the drive down the line from Montero - but if Chambers can't stop Montero from overcoming this disadvantage and still managing to skin him down the line, there's absolutely nothing Chamberlain can do.
Even our goal came about from a Chamberlain run from inside our own half after he had tracked back to our own penalty area.
I really don't see how he can be critcised for not doing enough defensively.
