Academy XI v Academy XI

What would the score be between these teams of Academy XIs* and who would be the scorers. Also are these how you would set out the teams?

Academy XI (former players)

GK: Ross Turnbull
DR: Stuart Parnaby
DL: David Murphy
DC: Andrew Davies
DC: David Wheater
DM; Lee Cattermole
RM: Adam Johnson
LW: Stewart Downing
AMC: Chris Brunt
AMC: James Morrison
FW: Danny Graham

Subs:
Brad Jones
Josh Walker
Luke Wilshire
Tom Craddock
Robbie Stockdale

Academy XI (Current players)

GK: Jason Steele
DR: Tony McMahon
DL: Joe Bennett
DC: Matty Bates
DC: Seb Hines
MR; Luke Williams
ML: Andrew Taylor
MC: Rhys Williams
MC: Richie Smallwood
AMC: Bruno Pilatos
FW: Jonathan Franks

Subs:
Connor Ripley
Cameron Park
Jonathan Grounds
Adam Reach
Ben Gibson

I don't actually think there is too much between the defences but the midfield and attack of the ex players would destroy the current lot.
I'd go for 5-1 with a Tony McMahon free kick being the only reply to a Danny Graham hatrick and a brace from Jinky. Also with Clattermole being sent for the foul that leads to McMahon's goal

turnbull was tosh, to many pies and anything either side of him would always go in. i think the real difference is the midfield. i would go 3-1 to the former players. personally i think if you switched the keepers, the DL's and put rhys for brunt you would have a quality side making mid table in the top flight without an issue.

Yeah turnbull was cack but IMO the lesser of two evil in terms of him and Brad 'Ross Geller' Jones.

I agree that the team of 'formers' with the swaps you have made would be more than comfortable in the PL, although I'd take out Andrew 'Alice from the vicar of dibley' Davies and put in Bates. I'd also swap Parnaby for McMahon. Neither of them are up to much but at least McMahon has transformed himself into a 'freekick specialist'

Aren't you comparing apples and oranges? Academy players, yes, but the first team has experience and we know what they're capable of...so statistically they are going to walk it every time.

I see what your saying but i think problem is more where the quality lies. in an overall team I would have 5 of the current crop (despite them having less experience) and 6 from the ex players but the 5 I'd have are all defensive minded. There seems to have been a bit of a gap since we last saw an attack minded player make a real impact. But hopefully Park, L. Williams and franks will step up to the plate next season
