They played for both sides......

Continuing this exciting and almost popular series "They played for both sides.....", bought to you in association with www.ifwedontwinthisoneithinkthedoommerchantswillbeoutinforceagain.com this week's choice is a true Leeds United legend.

To be fair, there's a few players who have worn the famous white shirts of Leeds United and also the chequered flag of Blackburn Rovers but none with as much pride and passion as one David Batty.

David came through the ranks at Leeds United starting out in the late 80s, winning the last English League title in 1992 before the birth of the Premier League. Batts went on to play for Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United before returning home to join O'Leary's revolution in 1998. Over 300 first team appearances Batty is one of a few select band of players to have played for Leeds United in three separate decades.

Other players who've represented both clubs include Scott Sellars, Jason Wilcox and of course, the legend that is Luke Varney.

For my fellow Mighty Whites' supporters;

1) what's your abiding memory of David Batty?
2) should he have won more England caps?
3) will we ever see a midfield as good as McAllister, Strachan, Speed and Batty again?
4) who else has played for both clubs other than those mentioned?
5) which current Blackburn Rovers' player would you take and which Leeds United player from the last starting XI would he replace?

For our friends at Ewok Park;

1) Luke Varney, new Robert Snodgrass or should he be driving buses like his uncle?
2) which current Leeds United player would you want playing for Blackburn, if you were forced......?
3) would you have won anything without Jack Walker?
4) your memories of our David?

Over to you in advance of the Matchday thread.........

1. Not quite old enough to have seen him play but I know of him. Big favourite with my dad.

2. If he was around now then hell yh

3. If we get back to the premier league and do a city then yes ..... Until then, Bianchi, Cook, Mowatt and Adryan will do

4. Paul Robinson

5. Rudi Gestede, costs less than Berbatov, but is also better than Becchio

If I may delve into the Blackburns perspective for a brief 2 mins

1. He's not a Snodgrass but the lad always tried.

2. Berardi, could do with playing against ten men

3. Probably not

4. Like I mentioned earlier, not old enough.

Top thread!

Could do with a Batty in this team, strong tackler, but a great passer too.
