Booing Mccormack

Personally I was surprised at how many people were booing Ross on Saturday. It seemed to reach a peak towards the end of the game which I suspect was more frustration than dislike of the player.
Worst game I've ever been to in terms of the atmosphere and quality on the pitch. There is no doubt that if we don't improve we are in real danger of relegation.

We were in danger before Saturday, that performance just confirmed it.

If we cant string a good set of results together at home, and we cant buy a win away, then we will be looking over our shoulders pretty quickly. Other than Wigan on boxing day I don't see where our points are going to come from in the next few weeks.

For me our problems are pretty obvious - as it was for those who I sit with on a Saturday regularly.

We've got some great young talent in midfield, but they simply don't have anyone to steer them. Mowatt, Cook, Adryan and Bianchi simply don't have enough experience/nouse and physicality to absorb far more experienced CCC/football hardened players. What's the average age - 20? Probably lower. Great in isolation, but over a season they'll get found out (and they are doing).

NR is making a bit of an error in my book. I know he brought Mowatt/Cook through the academy. I know he has faith in them. But I don't think he should or can expect these youngsters to run a central midfield against much cannier and experienced opposition week in/week out. These lads need to be rotated, with an experienced player brought in (if we can) to provide the experience and balance the team needs. He'll ruin these kids through misplaced loyalty if not careful. They need to be used and developed, not just chucked into a relegation fighting team - as we are becoming.

As for the booing of Ross - totally disagreed with it. I guess much of the reason was his apparent unwillingness to train with the team. I suspect, like there is always, that there's another side to the story. What I do know is he banged in goals a plenty last season, without which we'd have been in deep sh(ii)t. Deserved a round of applause for me, not booing - even silence and ignoring him would have been better.

As I recall, Ross was given time off due to his ailing grandmother,

I agree VOF. It's great we have so many young players and bodes well for the future if we manage to keep hold of them, but for now I think they need to be playing alongside a couple of guys with more experience whilst they are still learning, especially in midfield.

Maybe it's time to let Tonge have a couple of games to give the younger lads a rest? He's probably not the ideal solution but has the experience. As much as I like Adryan I think for now I would bring him off the bench for the last 30 mins and let him have a go at tired defences rather than start.

As Eddie Gray said, we need players who play with an experienced head, not necessarily one that has played for many seasons. A player that has multiple years of improvement not one with multiples of one year of experience.
