Sangakkara fastest to 12K

Congratulations to Sangakkara for crossing the 12000 mark and being the fastest to do so. Took fewer innings than Tendulkar, Ponting, Kallis, and Dravid in getting there. His current batting average of >58 is much higher those of the other four and also higher than that of Lara. Yet, he doesn't seem to get recognition commensurate with his achievements from fans as well as media.

infact even SA have become pretty flat these days. Since Aus got that 47 thereafter pitches have pretty flat

Among the two most prolific SL batsmen of this era, Mahela J clearly struggled outside the subcontinent. Not the case with Sanga.

I would include Sangakkara in my all-time subcontinent XI and certainly in the current world XI, but not in the all-time world XI where the competition is too high with Bradman, Lara, Tendulkar, Ponting, G Pollock, Kallis, etc.

I would pick Sangakkara for any XI over Chanderpaul, who is about to weasel his way into the 12K club.

Chanderpaul did his usual the other where he played for his test average and made no attempt to win the game for West Indies. He exposed the tail to Styen. Terrible attitude and will never be close to the best.

Chanderpaul is pretty close to being the leading run scorer for the west-indies..Shame really. Like above, he is selfish cricketer. Not scored many runs in recent times either. Should retire. But will continue until he over takes Lara. No matter how long that takes.

When Chanders accumulates another 179 runs, he will overtake Lara as the highest run scorer for WI. He will also be 6th on the list.

He needs only 40 runs to displace Mahela J at #7.

West Indies board need to do the right thing then and stop selecting him. He is not a team player.

Career batting averages:
Lara 52.9
Chanderpaul 52.3

Lara played 30 fewer matches and has more runs. So, why are the batting averages the same?
Key: Lara 6 not outs, Chanders 49 not outs

Yes.... But Sewag has more runs than Viv Richards.... Point being.... Chanderpaul can get 15'000 test runs, he will never be in the same bracket as Lara, Richards as far as the windies are concerned.
