Origi Recall

The Echo are now reporting that we are trying to recall Origi this month.

Haven't followed his progress in detail, but I know he's on a long goal drought and been playing on the wing mostly.

Thoughts on bringing him back?

If the loan isn't doing him any good, it makes sense to recall him and let him develop here. On the other hand, we'd be paying extra money to bring back a player who isn't performing - in that case why not try Ojo?

If he does return, I'd guess thats the end for Borini.

I don't really see what option we have other than to sign a proper striker. Are the owners working with BR or against him? It's clear we don't have any striker able to lead the line proficiently as Sturridge isn't reliable with his fitness issues.

I understsnd what you mean, but it depends if sterlings going to stay as a striker, if not then yes, but he could certainly play up top with sturridge imo

We need more pace and mobility up front.

If he does come in January then I don't think we will be doing much business at all in this transfer window, as it hints at a limited budget

It makes sense to me. Borini is awful, Balotelli has been unsurprisingly a dreadful signing and Lambert isn't suited to our style of football. Origi can't do any worse than than the two misfiring Italians, so I can see the sense in it.

I think we have to have one eye on the possibility that Sturridge will never be a striker we can rely upon due to his injuries. So he needs support from another top quality striker. Probably why we took an ill advised dip on Balotelli.

If we are leaving Origi where he is we need a striker like Lacazette or Jackson Martinez to be sure of getting goals. They come at premium prices but that's what we need right now to give us a chance of CL football next season.

Origi is not a player we can depend on at the moment.

I still think Balo will come good alongside Studge

he's definitely not cover to lead the line as a lone striker though

I don't think the system has anything to do with his form. Balo will only come good when he can be bothered. Until then he will remain a liability.

I think origi would be better off spending the rest of the season at lille and may have a better 2nd half to the season than the first after their winter break.
For me a top goalkeeper is a priority, and as it would appear bayern are now apparently allowing shaquiri to leave i would try and buy him.He would come in relatively fresh due to lack of playing time and he is fast/direct can play midfield or wide up front and play the pressing strategy rodgers likes.
Try and get some funds back by selling Borini. For me shaquiri would improve the starting 11 and not be just another squad player.

I think for £3m its a no-brainer to get him in now.

Lille are having a shocking season and he is often played wide which is not going to be his long term position for us anyway.

IMO its better to get him settled in England ready for next season. He is hungry and wants to be here so no point leaving him on loan.

I don't think he will have a dramatic impact this season, but at least it gives us another quick forward who can't really do any worse than our other forwards have done this season.

Even if he only scores a couple of goals it will be an improvement.

What a complete waste of 3 mil that would be especially with studge nearly back. It is not as if this guy is some goal scoring machine in top form.

I hate buying players from world cup performances and i didnt think he was that good in the wc.

we better off let him stay where he is and then bring him i the summer. Thwt 3 mil csn be used elsewhere in my opinion

In the two games against Everton he did nothing of not bar a 3 second video of him knocking the ball past Baines. He did look a player at the WC, so it could be worth a small gamble as his direct/strength based play may buy him some goals as a wide front man.
