zlatan

Whilst he can certainly be inconsistent and frustrating, there's no doubting his ability. I think one of the reasons for him being so highly rated is his unique style as you won't see another footballer use karate techniques so effectively ( maybe de jong ).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8HPZvSXT_3g This is a cool compilation of how he's used karate to benefit him in football.

Honestly think the fella is overrated, He's done it in poor league (Serie A & Ligue 1) The season he had at Barca was a fail and I'd be willing to put money on it he'd be underwhelming in the PL too.

Serie A was hardly poor when he was at Juve and Inter, now yes but not then. And many top players have "failed" at Barca, it's not really a stick to beat the bloke with.

If Ibra failed at Barca, then Cesc, Alexis, Villa, Neymar and even Henry failed. For starters, he wasn't nearly as bad as made out at Barca. He and the club were sick of each other after a season. And the way people dismiss his Serie A record is ignorant. He was already tearing it up at Juve, when an inferior Milan team were still conquering Europe by 2007. The Serie A was still a top quality league until the Calciopoli scandal did it massive damage.

Zlatan was a big part of inter winning 3 straight Serie A titles. With juve too. Then of course with Milan he came close to winning it again. The fact he won league title for 8 years or whatever on the trot says it all. The guy is a championship winning striker.

Doubt there's a player of his mould in world football coming through, probably will be years if anyone like him comes through. Wished he played in PL would've smashed it.

He was the wrong type of player for Barça. Guardiola liked him as he enabled us to go more direct and change play up a bit. However, he was far too slow for our system. It was a time we were moving the ball about so quickly and our movement was superb. He was just too static and always three or four passes behind the play.

Having said that, when we did get a forward perfect for us, Villa, we went with Messi up front instead - for obvious reasons. Playing Messi on the right with a false number 9 allowed us to play as if we had 13 players on the field.

Those were the days!
