Let's make no mistake the double pivot of the young Frenchman and Wanyama is crucial to Southampton's defence! The likes of Fonte are not any better than the likes of Smalling or Jones.
But this is what I don't get, everytime I watch the saints I actually find Wanyama more impressive yet the pundits wax lyrical about Schneiderlin! Is he like a Gilberto, invisible wall who goes about his business quietly? Because Wanyama clearly has more presence than Schneiderlin.
And we need a physical presence in our midfield! We need someone closer to Matic! Someone to babysit Ozil.
I will watch the saint closely tomorrow in the FA Cup but I'm almost certain Schneiderlin is not the person we need at Arsenal football club.
Is Schneiderlin overrated?

In my opinion Schneiderlin is a good player but not worth the money being asked for him. I think of him as a poorer version of Xabi Alonso.

Alonso is a deep playmaker - Schneiderlin a ball winner / holding player. People (and people in the media too) seem not to recognise the distinction. When Matic and Fabregas play next to eachother, their rroles are completely different.

Imo Arsenal need a Wanyama type of player.

Wanyama does as much if not more work than Schneiderlin.

Schneiderlin said he doesn't like playing with Wanyama because he prefers to sit deep and take the ball from defence and when Wanyama plays he can't do that. Would prefer a schniederlin type instead of a limited player who can only sit like Wanyama.

I have been saying for ages that Wanyama is what we need!

What Arsenal need is to find someone like Rosicky in his prime..counter attacks, technically good, fighting spirit, dynamic range of play, tackles and always up for it.
These are the type of players Arsenal should be looking for..hopefully a DM with similar qualities would be perfect.

Schneiderlin is not what Arsenal need, I would agree on that. But to suggest Wanyama is better than him would be stupid. Wanyama is a poverty footballer.

Neither Schneirderlin is overrated, or Wanyama is better than him. In fact, if anything Schneiderlins contribution to the team and excellent defensive display Southampton are showing is very much underrated. If they had lost Schneiderlin in the Summer, they would have really struggled.
Schneiderlin is exactly what Arsenal need. He's a realistic option and good enough for our style of play. I very much doubt he'll be off in January (in fact I'm 95% certain he'll stay at Southampton until the summer).

Wanyama is more beneficial to Saints...they are never as solid without him in the side.
However individually...i think Schneiderlin has more to his game.
Both of them together is arguably one of the best midfield pairings in the league.
