A Championship Future

The writing is on the wall – we are favourites to be relegated- bottom of the league and rightly so- as one of the worst teams in the Premiership..

A Championship standard Squad – and a Championship standard manager – but with Premiership standard owners and facilities.
Yesterday was totally depressing with us well into second half of the season and fielding a team from last season.

The fault is firmly in the hands of Pearson who neglected to address the issue of building a squad capable of competing in the most demanding Division in world football. All we heard from him was the capability and skill of his Championship winning team able to compete in the Premiership with certain squad additions.
Let us examine those – Upson – a player refused a contract at his previous club and a "never present " for us – but getting well paid. That marque signing Cambiasso – again refused a contract at his last club – missing again yesterday – contributing less than half our games and influencing little – but cost us over £ 2 million. Albrighton – again refused a contract at his last club and existing in some never – never land at Leicester.
Our excellent owners already offered total support in funding and had already stumped up £8 million for Ulloa and now a further 9.7 million for Kramaric both of whom were on the bench yesterday – the worst team in the division on the pitch and an expensive bench off it – complete shambles at the moment. One thing is clear – we are in the right position in the league .. its not bad luck –its an inferior team with inferior management
Our midfield has been in urgent need of strengthening all season as has our central defence where Morgan is operating completely out of his ability zone.
Pending demotion will be a financial disaster for our owners who lost some £120 million in the championship and also for a region whose profile and income has been enhanced by Premiership.

Of course there will be those occasional attenders at matches with their 2 year old replica shirt stretched over their stomachs belching out KTF –it doesn’t really matter – we will still support – it will be a disaster that did not have to happen –there are teams without our resource and sponsorship potential who will remain in the Premiership whilst we face the possibility of what has happened to teams like Wolves , Fulham.Wigan etc
At the moment we seem not to have a structured plan but a manager whose main claim to fame this season is an exhibition of Foul amd abusive language behaviour –rightly punished by the FA and the banning of a Leicester BBC journalist who had the temerity to question his ability

Its almost as bad as his suggestion that Harry Redknapp would make a good DoF for us...

I think Harry will soon be helping his dog to spend his savings.

You are right Dunge - that is why I would sack Pearson now and restore some stability to the club by appointment of a temporary manager with high credibility in the integrity like Curbishley and wait for season end to see what happens to certain clubs

Howe will stay with Bournemouth if promoted but I am sure Dyche would love to operate with a real budget and in Tony Laughlin has an assistant with real links and affinity with the club.

Bear in mind that we were 22 points better than QPR last season and 9 points better than Burnley - so they have improved against us in Premiership - we have regressed - Pearson responsibility

What a hoot this has been.

So nostradamus reckons;

Rio Ferdinand brings world class experience to QPR - but Cambiasso was a bad choice for Leicester

We should sack Pearson and bring in Alan Curbishley straight away....regardless of what effect such a decision now would have on the team - mainly to improve our PR

Cambiasso signing was a disaster from the outset, despite calling the move 'excellent' on 14th August.

Sean Dyche would be an excellent manager to operate on a real budget, despite his recent signings including Sordell and Jutciewitz and he has achieved success with Eddie Howe's team not his own - therefore he has very little track record in the transfer market

Redknapp made some really great signings in the summer so would have been ideal as a DoF....

None of this was Terry Robinsons fault.

Brilliant

JG - I don't fully disagree that we should plan for a scenario where we are playing championship football next season. I just don't think that Pearson creates as much negative PR as you suggest and therefore no need to replace him.

He's also proven to be a successful manager at getting promotion so you could argue there wouldn't be a better candidate out there to have a stab at getting us back at the first attempt.

However, I think our owners would look for change if we went down and I'd support that decision.

Dyche is a random suggestion and I'm not a big fan of his, though there's no denying he's doing an "ok" job now.

The only way of lose Pearson this season is if we're in touch with 6-8 games to go and in the slide rather than the up.

That said, we're clearly still operating in this window to try and keep us up. I hope we're putting sensible contracts in place that protect us if we go down.

I just can't agree this is all Pearson's fault though. Steve Walsh is his scout - shouldn't he take some blame? Terry Robinson was responsible for closing deals - his fault?

You suggest Pearson didn't want more quality/players in the summer and I just don't think this is true.

Now, what Pearson can take responsibilty for is some questionable team selections and tactics that just haven't worked in games. But this is still less than games where his tactics looked spot on, but the team just wasn't up to it.

Alan Curbishly, that is perhaps the worst suggestion I have ever seen on a board he hasn't managed at any level since in seven years. Football has moved lightyears in seven years I would rather have Paulo Sousa than Curbishly.

To suggest that because Cambiasso game from Seria A so isn't that good is absolutely ridiculous John Gee and you know it. He has played in the champions league, at the world cup and is the second most decorated Argentinian player of all time. He also played in Seria A when it was still a top league as well as playing at Madrid. He has top top level experience, champions league experience is as good as Premier League experience.

Your knowledge of European football context is also pretty iffy, the reason they released Cambiasso is because Inter are totally rebuilding after years of mismangement after the 2008 champions league win, they are looking to build the squad around a new younger class of player. Chelsea released Lampard does that mean he isn't good enough to play at the top level? Barcelona released Valdes, would you not have taken him?

Its surely no coincidence your name did not crop up once on these boards when we were winning

Chesham - JG tends to simply ignore posters he doesnt agree with, believing that they're incapable of understanding him, so you and Tommy will be lucky to get any kind of response. Its usually Mersey or Dunge he will reply to at best.

"You are right Dunge - that is why I would sack Pearson now"

At least JG is being honest now, strange turn around though as not long ago he backed giving NP the window to strengthen, something that has started with a JG endorsed signing from Croatia and a decent run of games seeing us take 7/10 points?

Admin, can you check if anyone has hacked into JG's account recently? Or does he have more than one login? Some of his comments today are the complete opposite of those made on the same subjects only a couple of weeks ago.....
