Shirt Sales Study (8 Clubs)

"The bots over at Sports Direct have conducted research into shirt sales across the United Kingdom, with Manchester United proving far more popular than their arch-rivals Manchester City."

"A study of eight of the most popular Premier League team shirts - Arsenal, Aston Villa, Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham - has uncovered a selection of interesting figures."

"Most surprising of all is perhaps Aston Villa who have seen a huge chunk of their shirts being sold in Dublin, ahead of their home city Birmingham and other nearby cities."

Chelsea have a high quantity of shirts coming from Lagos in Nigeria, while 4.05 per cent of Manchester United shirt sales are from Fijnaart in the Netherlands which is likely related to the summer managerial appointment of Dutch coach Louis van Gaal.

Interestingly, 94.57 per cent of shirt sales in Manchester are United jersey's.

This link provides some images for the spread across the clubs;

The spread is fascinating, for example;

After London, the most Chelsea shirts are sold in Lagos, Nigeria. Apart from Villa, all the clubs sell the most shirts in London. I am personally amazed Surrey is not on the list for Utd. You know how many fans we have there

In overall sales we dominate City in Manchester 95%/5% and in London Arsenal sell more than Spurs and Chelsea with Arsenal having almost half the market share among the London clubs.

It is amusing to see that Liverpool sell more shirts in London than we do and only 6% of their shirts are purchased in Liverpool.

In general, the spread is fascinating for all clubs concerned.

Cheers
