Last summer he took a £1million salary cut and agreed a £500,000-a-year deal just to present football on ITV until summer 2016 - but bosses decided to end it early.

Is that you Adrian? How much of the £4.5m he earned last year came directly or indirectly from exposure gained at ITV? Being pedantic does not change the fact that ITV were probably ecstatic that it all ended.
